Creative Writing for “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell

Upon completion of reading the short story “The Most Dangerous Game,” weren’t you left wondering what happened to Rainsford? After all, there he was, sitting in this beautiful chateau wondering what his next move would be. He has lots of decisions to make.

Based on what you’ve read on Sanger Rainsford, use your imagination to create a story that tells us what happens to this character after his victorious battle with the evil General Zaroff. Maybe he brings Whitney to Ship Trap Island? What will he do with the trainees in the cellar? What about Zaroff’s vicious pack of hounds? Tell me your thoughts in a one-page handwritten story.

Creative Writing Requirements:

  • Include at least one example of foreshadowing (a literary element Connell used in the story)
  • At least two similes (another type of figurative language Connell used and we’ve analyzed)

Fortunato’s Version

Retell your favorite part of the story as though Fortunato were the narrator. Be sure to include your impressions of your "friend" (Montresor) and his actions.
