Paul McCreadie is a chartered civil engineer with over 23 years of experience in the construction industry. Dual qualified in civil engineering and construction law, Paul’s extensive experience has been gained on a variety of major building,civil engineering and energy projects. He has in-depth knowledge of a wide range of technical, practical, process and commercial aspects of construction projects, as well as a high level of experience in construction planning programming, design management, health safety management and contract management.
Paul’s specialism is in the provision of independent expert advice in the resolution of construction delay and quantum disputes through negotiation, mediation and third party determination, and the provision of risk advice to parties involved in construction projects.
He has provided testimony at a variety of dispute resolution forums, including opinion evidence relating to professional negligence claims arising from structural steelwork and concrete elements of the new Wembley Stadium; written opinion on the design and construction of the Brian Lara Stadium, Trinidad, to a governmental Commission of Enquiry;and testimony on behalf of a European local authority before the President of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, in connection with waste management facilities.
Paul’s experience spans a wide range of sectors that include commercial and public buildings, civil infrastructure, healthcare, hotels, power generation, oil & gas, nuclear, residential, retail, sport leisure facilities, and water & wastewater treatment.
He commenced his career with Barr Construction based in Paisley, Scotland. He spent a total of 17 years working for companies in the Barr group, including construction and structural steelwork, specialising in the design and construction of civil infrastructure, sports and leisure facilities, commercial developments and retail complexes.
Prior to forming MHL in 2014, Paul spent two years with High-Point Rendel based in Dubai, UAE, and prior to that four years with Acutus Programme Management providing expert advice in planning, programming and commercial transactions.
Paul lectures on behalf of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) to engineers working towards their professional membership, and is currently undertaking legal research through the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, into construction delay and quantum disputes.

  • Responsible for the provision of specialist contract support and advice to contractor and client organisations in relation to major international projects. Duties include providing commercial and technical risk advice, quantum and time related claims preparation, and the provision of strategic advice in connection with commercial risks and entitlements, the preparation of contract documentation and the management of programming, planning and design issues.

  • Responsible for the provision of independent expert advice in relation to commercial construction disputes to contractors, construction professionals, client organisations and financial institutions. Duties included the identification and interrogation of factual evidence, consideration of the legal positions of the parties, preparing risk assessments, delay analyses, expert reports and presentations, and communicating findings, conclusions and opinions to key stakeholders.
