Volunteers are crucial to our organization. The membership has elected a Board of Directors of eleven individuals to carry out the mission of the Association. The President, Board of Directors and staff are counting on the committees to serve as a delegation of the general membership to strategize, make recommendations and implement actions that advance the mission of the organization.

ArOA Mission: To preserve, promote and advance Optometry in Arkansas.

Committee:Membership

Committee Mission Statement:The mission is to actively recruit new members and retain current members. It is also to encourage member participation in Association committees and activities. It should also determine if membership needs are being met and recommend measures or services that will better meet the changing needs of members.

Career Guidance Sub-committee: The mission shall be to assist new and recent graduates in establishing professional, ethical modes of practice and recruit them for active involvement in the Association and to encourage and facilitate communications between Association and the students by sponsoring programs for students and assisting in the support of students and activities.

Member Role/Purpose of Project:work with staff to retain and recruit new members;work with students interested in coming to Arkansas

Reports to:board/staff

Length of Appointment:May 1, 2013-April 30, 2014 all committee appoints are made by incoming president

Time Commitment: determined by strategic plan set by committee

Qualifications:commitment to Association; belief in Organized Optometry; likes to communicate with other Optometrists; positive attitude; willingness to try new things;knowledge of different types of practices in Arkansas; current knowledge of state laws of Optometry; good relationship with other Optometrists
