Mrs. Lynn’s Guided Study Expectations and Rules

Guided Study Overview:

  • Guided Study classes are focused on helping students improve academically.
  • Generally, students will have one Guided Study class per term.
  • A “no pass” in Guided Study will affect a student’s ability to play a school sport.
  • Guided Study is spent quietly studying, completing homework or reading-No Exceptions!

Student Expectations:

  • Students are expected to be quietly on-task actively doing homework or reading a book.
  • All students need to be in attendance the first five (5) minutes of class and the last ten (10) minutes of class.
  • All students are expected to follow the school expectations

Be Safe- Be Respectful -Be Responsible

  • All students are expected to arrive to Guided Study with the necessary materials. These materials include:

1. Assignments

2. Student Planner

3. Binder

4. Necessary Textbooks

5. Pencils/Pens

  • If a student is to leave Guided Study to go to another teacher’s classroom, the student is responsible for getting a note from the receiving teacher beforehand and bringing it to the Guided Study teacher at the beginning of class.
  • All students are expected to have a library book to read during Guided Study if they are finished with their work or checkout a book from the classroom Library.

Guided Study Teachers

  • Teachers are not to send students to another classroom without a note from the receiving teacher. The note must be presented at the beginning of Guided Study class.
  • Teachers will only request students from guided study classes for legitimate academic purposes. Taking a test, giving a presentation, delivering a speech, completing a group project are examples.
  • Teachers must check student planners at least twice a month.
  • Teachers are responsible for academic counseling that at least includes reviewing their students’ progress reports on an individual basis.
  • Teachers are expected to maintain a quite, orderly academic environment.

Guided Study

Every day for class, you are responsible to come prepared! That means that you need to bring your planner, history notebook and textbook and all other supplies every single day to class. If you fail to come prepared, it will be documented that you were unprepared or disruptive in class, and this will impact your citizenship grade.

E= Excellent

S=Satisfactory

N=Needs Improvement

U= Unsatisfactory

E= Excellent: A student alwaysfollows class and school rules, stays on task, raises hand to participate in a discussion or to ask a question, comes prepared for class, helps others, turns assignments in on time, never disrupts class and is always respectful to the teacher and other students.

S=Satisfactory: A student usually follows class and school rules, comes prepared, usually stays on task, raises hand before speaking, almost always completes work on time, does not disrupt the class and is respectful to the teacher and students.

N=Needs Improvement: A student sometimes follows class and school rules, sometimes stays on task when monitored, participates when asked, has unexplained absences, no concern for others, and is at times disrespectful to teacher and students.

U= Unsatisfactory: A student seldom follows class or school rules, does not stay on task or participates in class, seldom completes homework, often disrespectful and disruptive, and has recurring, unexplained absences.

Be Respectful:

Raise Your Hand to Talk!!!

Use a quiet voice and appropriate language

Work cooperatively with others

LISTEN!! When someone else is talking to you

Do not move from your desk when someone is speaking

Be Responsible:

Use your time wisely

Complete your homework on time

Come prepared for class! Bring your notebook, textbook and brain!!

Listen carefully to directions and follow them the First Time!

Ask questions if you do not understand!!

Be in the classroom when the bell rings, or you are tardy!!

Be Safe:

Keep hands and feet and negative comments to yourself!!

Do not throw anything in the classroom

Leave all toys and electronic gadgets at home

Use tools and desks properly

Walk in the classroom and hallways

Consequences:

With all the choices we make, there are consequences for our actions. If you choose to disobey any of the classroom or school rules the following actions will be taken. For serious offence or disrespect, students will be sent to the office and parents will be called immediately.

1st: Verbal warning is given

2nd: Student is sent to the Time-Out Corner

3rd: Student will serve lunch or break Detention, and call phone

4th: Write-up and meeting with Administrators and parents
