Purpose of Role:

To support this vision the University have embarked on a major capital development programme focused primarily at the City Centre Campus but extending to our City South Campus, with an investment package expected to be in the region of £200-280m. The Estates Department Project Office team is an essential element of the realisation of the Strategic Plan 2020.

The City Centre Campus comprises of a series of phased developments, the first two, the Parkside and Curzon buildings are completed with a total of 42,000m2 of space. In addition, other significant capital projects including the construction of a new 10,000m2 Birmingham Conservatoire by 2017, a 10,000m2 Extension to Curzon Building by 2017 and an extension to Seacole Building again by 2017-18 is anticipated in the order of 10,000m2. In addition capital investment associated with refurbishments within Millennium Point and the fit-out of our newly acquired Joseph Priestley Building are planned for 2016.

All of the capital projects are developed and maintenance is planned using industry leading BIM processes. The BIM Assistant willsupport the in-house BIM and Digital Asset Teamin the maintenance and upgrade of their BIMdatabase. Working with industry leading team, with a modern toolset and processes to deliver exemplar models for use in the ongoing management of the Universities estate.

The BIM Assistant is required to work within the BIM environment used by the University Estates Department (Revit, BIM360 and SharePoint) under the supervision of the BIM Process Managerupgrading 3D geometry as well as adding and updating Information contained with the models.

Reporting to:Estates BIM Process Manager

Job Summary:

Working as part of the Estates Department Project Officeina BIM function to support the in house BIMand Digital Assets Team and wider Estates Department Project Office.

To support the BIM Process Manager in the maintenance of digital data in Revit Models and database applications.

Key Accountabilities:

Maintain the latest versions of BIMinformation and geometry

Process all information in accordance with prescribed deliverables within agreed timescales

Ensure high accuracy of modelling based on measurement data

Utilise file format conversion processes

Assist in the creation and adherence to strict modelling methodologies and suggest improvements where appropriate.

Person Specification:

Qualifications:

Educated to GSCE Standard or equivalent in English, Mathematics and Science.

Ideally has or be working towards bachelor degree in a built environment subject (e.g. architectural Technology; Building Surveying; Construction Management etc.)

Knowledge and Experience:

The candidate will be able to demonstrate a full understanding of goodorganisationaltechniques and an understanding information management and BIM.

The candidate should:

Have proven experience in the use of Revit for modelling and ideally information management.

Have a good knowledge of working in an electronic environment.

Ideally have experience withBIM and database systems, e.g Revit, SharePoint, BIM 360 Glue and BIM 360 Field (training will be given where required)

Be experienced in working to procedures.

Personal Skills:

The candidate should:

Be able to liaise effectively with the,the in-house project management team, wider estates team and external consultant team

Have excellent communication skills.

Be able to work to deadlines under own supervision.

Proactive team member, willing to learn and contribute to the Estates Department.

Have excellent organisational skills.
