Brief

The aim of the Grey Coat Hospital is to ‘enable students to take charge of their learning, make decisions based on Christian values, live in the world as independent women, and meet the challenges of the twenty first century.’

The Grey Coat Hospital is looking to appoint a well-qualified Maths teacher to teach across the ability range at KS3, KS4 and KS5. At KS4 two sets study their GCSE and some students go on to study a FSMQ. At KS5 we offer A Level Maths and Further Maths. This vacancy provides an excellent opportunity to work in a high quality and well-resourced environment and to become part of a highly motivated team of teachers. This post will be of interest to both experienced and newly qualified teachers.

General; the following duties shall be deemed to be included as part of professional duties:

to implement the school's agreed policies

to maintain effective discipline through implementation of the school's agreed procedures

to carry out a share of supervisory duties in accordance with published rosters

to plan and prepare lessons

to teach, according to their educational needs, the students assigned to him/her, including the setting and marking of work

to assess, record and report on the development, progress and attainment of students, including records on student attendance at lessons together with class and homework set and undertaken

to carry out the role of form tutor as required

to participate in meetings arranged for any of the purposes above

Maths Curriculum

Year 7/8

Our KS3 schemes of work build on students’ learning from KS2 and prepare them for the GCSE course they begin at the start of Year Nine. There is a focus on problem solving with students encouraged to develop strategies to break down complex questions into manageable steps and learn how to identify which mathematical skills they need to apply to be able to solve them.

Year 9/10/11

  • Edexcel GCSE, taught over three years to reflect the increased content in the new curriculum.

Years 12 & 13

  • Year 12- 4 classes; 2 Maths with Statistics, 1 Maths with Mechanics, 1 Maths and with Further Maths (students in this class follow the Maths A level course in Y12 and the Further Maths A level course in Y13).
  • Year 13 - 4 classes; 2 Maths with Statistics, 1 Maths with Mechanics, 1 Maths with Further Maths(students in this class follow the Maths A level course in Y12 and the Further Maths A level course in Y13).
