Grandparents Day

It was great to see so many grandparents and parents at our Grandparents Assembly. We hope you enjoyed the morning as much as the children.

Nursery Play & Stay

The children in the Nursery were delighted to have their parents stay and play with them last Friday morning. I know that many parents could not believe how independent their children were in the Nursery setting, particularly during snack time.

Credit Union Quiz

Congratulations to Conor, Lukas, Jamie and Michael who represented the school so well at the Omagh Credit Union Quiz on Friday night in St.Joseph’s Hall.

Teaching Practice

We welcome Hannah McGinn and Alana Owens to our school, who will be working with Year 4 & Year 6 classes. We hope they will enjoy their time in our lovely school.

Tyrone V Monaghan

Congratulations to Conor and Michael who braved the cold to play at half time during the Tyrone and Monaghan game on Saturday night.

Parental Involvement in Numeracy (PIN)

Year 2 and Year 6 children and parents are invited to attend the launch of our PIN Programme on Monday 23rd February at 3.30pm. This will be a 4 week programme were parents and children develop mathematical concepts through playing mathematical games at home. This is a fun and enjoyable way to learn maths!

Book Week:Monday 9th February – Friday 13th February

The Book Fair

The Book Fair will take place in the school from Friday 6th February until Wednesday 11th February. Parents are welcome to come in and browse at the Book Fair from 8.45am – 9.00am or 2.15pm – 3.30 pm on all of the above dates. The Book Fair provides all of us with an opportunity to buy the latest books. The school receives a percentage of what you spend and we use this money to buy new books for the library.

Shared Reading

Year 7 pupils will be visiting the Nursery and will be sharing stories with the children.

Year 6 pupils will be reading stories with our Year 1 children. During the week there will be many activities to celebrate Book Week, with the emphasis on reading, story telling, character development and the enjoyment of books.

Book Character Day

On Friday 13th February, children from Nursery, Year 1 to Year 4 are asked to dress up as their favourite character from a book.

No Pen Morning

On Tuesday 10th February we will be having a ‘No Pen Morning.’ During this time the pupils will be engaging in lots of practical activities and discussion, thereby promoting their Talking and Listening Skills and their Problem Solving skills in Numeracy.

Paired Reading

Year 3 children and their parents are still taking part in the Paired Reading Programme. Keep up the great reading.

Healthy Lunchboxes

Just a reminder about healthy lunchboxes. The school is still taking part in the Munchbox challenge and would encourage children to take healthy lunches to school. We would ask that sweets, sugary drinks and chocolate are not included in your child’s lunch box. Congratulations and thanks to all those children who are trying really hard to be healthy. It’s not easy but keep up the good work.

SWEET Programme

All children in Years 5 – 7 received information regarding the SWEET Programme. This hugely successful free programme, focuses on healthy eating and exercise for the whole family.

Change of Details

It is vital to inform Theresa of any change of address or telephone numbers. The school need up to date contact details in case of emergencies. A test text will be sent out on Thursday morning. If you do not receive this text please let Theresa know.

Attendance Matters

It is very important that all of our children attend school every day. Continual absences have a dramatic impact on the progress children make from the earliest of stages. It is also vitally important that all children arrive in time for school every day and don’t leave early unless absolutely necessary. Parents should make contact with the school on the first day of their child’s absence before 9.30am to let us know that their child is off sick. If you do not make contact with us we will ring you before ten o clock. We thank you for your continued support in this area.
