GRAHAM TALBOT – INTERIM ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: INCLUSION & ACHIEVEMENT

PURPOSE

  1. From April 2007 to December 2007 5 schools were inspected by OFSTED under the 2005 Framework for Inspection.
  1. Of the schools and services inspected 2 were outstanding, 9 were good and 4 were satisfactory.
BACKGROUND
  1. Regular reports are brought to the Panel, reporting on the outcome of OFSTED inspections in the authority.
  1. The table below shows the OFSTED inspections between April and December 2007 and the outcome categories. No schools were found to be in the Notice to Improve or Inadequate categories.

CONCLUSION

6. The OFSTED inspections during this period continue to reflect the

strength of the schools in Middlesbrough. 37 out of 51 inspections having overall grades of good or outstanding is a credit to all the pupils, staff and governors of those schools along with all who support them.

7. Middlesbrough now has only one school in an OFSTED category of

notice to improve. That school is making progress towards getting out of that category according to the monitoring visits.
