MAIN AIMSToassist the Corps Officer in the effective running
and expansion of the children’s and families
work within the Corps and local community

LOCATIONBased mainly in the Corps building but involves
visits to the homes of the children and their families

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To plan and administrate for the Parent & Toddler group sessions
  • To set up and lead the Parent & Toddler group sessions which includes craft activities, singing and toddler games.
  • To spend time getting to know the toddler and families who attend the group sessions and spend time visiting each child for support as necessary.
  • To assist with the planning and running of the children’s club (5-11 years).
  • To support the Corps Officer in the ongoing development of links with local schools and be involved in appropriate school activities such as RE lessons, assemblies and clubs.
  • To network with local agencies and groups that support children and families.
  • To develop ideas for bringing church to these families and to show children they are valued.
  • To attend and contribute to team meetings and supervision meetings.
  • To identify sources of funding to support the activities and this post.
  • To accurately maintain paper and computer records.
  • To maintain high standards of hygiene and health & safety
  • To attend relevant training as required
  • To undertake other duties that may reasonably be requested

Qualifications / Relevant children’s provision qualification
Experience/
Knowledge / Experience of working with children of all ages / Knowledge of fire and health & safety procedures including child protection
Knowledge of Schools and/or Sports ministry
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word/PowerPoint (or similar)
Skills/Abilities / Able to take responsibility for tasks and decision making
Able to maintain confidentiality as all times.
Ability to listen to and communicate effectively with all sections of the community
Able to work as a member of a team and on own
Able to plan and lead children’s programmes
Able to relate to and effectively communicate with children
Able to maintain good records
Trustworthy
Able to accurately handle and record cash / Able to identify needs in the community and initiate a response
Personal Qualities / Able to work within the Christian ethos of The Salvation Army
