Foster Child: Alicia White (5yrs)
Family information: Ms. White has contacted OKDHS and requested to be the placement for her brother’s daughter, Alicia (5) who was removed due to Sexual Abuse by her biological father. Alicia is currently placed in an Emergency Foster Home and has been there for 3 days.
What you know so far:
Ms. White lives by herself in a 2 bedroom apartment. She works full time at Norman Regional as an Administrative Assistant/Data Entry Clerk. Her hours are Monday through Friday, 7am to 3pm. She brings home approximately $1,600 per month.
You are in the home for the initial visit with Ms. White. You have the Initial Kinship Placement Agreement to go over with her. She is going to have several questions regarding the kinship process.
You also need to find out what her thoughts are regarding the alleged abuse and how she is willing to protect the child.
Remember to address each area on the agreement with her.
Once you complete your interview, you will need to type up a summary of what you learned from Ms. White in a Word document. Discuss any concerns you may have and/or any concerns Ms. White brought to your attention.

Your brother, Jimmy (Alicia’s father) is your only family. You were both raised by your grandparents after your mother committed suicide when you were 5. Jimmy is your older brother and has always been there to look after you. Neither of you know who your father is, you think you have different fathers but you are not sure. Your grandmother passed away when you were 16 and your grandfather passed away last year. You and Jimmy spend a lot of time together and you think of Alicia as your own. You are really unsure about the allegations against Jimmy, you don’t think Alicia is a liar but you think Alicia’s mother made it up to get more child support out of him. You have never seen Jimmy be inappropriate with Alicia and it seems to you that Alicia loves him a lot. Jimmy has had drug problems in the past but you think he is clean.
You want to know what kind of payments you will be receiving. You want to take Alicia but you are not sure you can afford it full time. Have the worker explain Child Only TANF, KSUS and the Training Stipends. They also need to explain about the training you will have to attend as a Bridge Parent.
The worker also needs to explore what you will do to prevent Jimmy from seeing Alicia. You will do what DHS tells you but you want to be kept up-to-date on what is going on.
