Chef Larry Berkowitz

It hasn’t’ taken Chef Larry Berkowitz long to establish his presence in Titusville. We can thank Parrish Hospital for recognizing the award-winning chef’s talent. Word spread quickly of the talented new Executive Chef in the community. Although the Parrish Café had a great reputation it grew more popular than ever. Now, he and his wife, Gwen welcome and serve guests daily for lunch at Chef Larry’s Café in historic Downtown Titusville. On Thursday and Friday from Noon to 1 p.m. they broadcast Live on WPIO 89.3 with their attentive lunch crown observing and partaking in ChefLarry’s Radio Grill. ChefLarry also conducts cooking classes on Thursdays at his own establishment, as well as other locations throughout the area.

After graduating culinary school in Chicago, he swiftly became one of the city’s top chefs. ChefLarry went on to work at some of the most prestigious restaurants, country clubs and hospitals in the country. In Malibu, California he opened his first bistro and was affectionately dubbed the “Celebrity Chef” cooking for the local’s including Olivia Newton-John, Jack Klugman, Dennis Weaver, John Stamos, Kevin Spacey and more.

Success in the 2nd and 3rd largest markets in America, prompted ChefLarry to accept the position of Executive Chef at the highly recognized Wellington Equestrian County Club in South Florida. This move proved to be providential, as one of the members, beckoned him to come to Palms West Hospital in West Palm Beach, where he was a doctor. Since it had become one of the “Top 100 Hospitals” in the country, they needed the right chef to create the menu to match their stellar medical reputation. It was there that Chef Larry realized his full potential working in a healing environment. He developed menus that aided in the recovery of patients, as well as being tasty and appealing.

Every aspect of ChefLarry’s background is present in his stylish, and comfortable ChefLarry’s Café. He cooks in front of a handful at his presentation kitchen, while the rest are seated in the charming café, both inside and out on the patio. The windows are plentiful and the room intimate, so everyone can chat with the chef and talk to him about another of his favorite subjects – his ChefLarry’s Heart Healthy Spice. He uses the no sodium spice in all of his dishes and sells it at ChefLarry’s Café and on line at cheflarrysspice.com.
