Vetri Community Partnership empowers children and families to lead healthy lives through fresh food, hands-on experiences and education. We want to break the cycle of poor eating habits that get passed down from generation to generation.

Vetri Community Partnership is seeking motivated intern with a passion for food and cooking and an interest in mentoring and teaching students. This position is assisting our lead teachers/chefs facilitate summer Chef Academy at ESF Camps this summer of 2017. These classes focus on instilling a love of cooking and a curiosity about food though a week-long, hands-on course. Ideally, this would be an internship or community service project for a culinary student or a summer internship for someone in related fields to education and/or the food space. This is a non-paid experience working directly with children.

Where: Various ESF Camp locations in the region

When: Six weeks during the time of June 26th, 2017- August 18th, 2017, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am-4:00 pm, not including mandatory ESF and VCP training.

Vetri Community Partnership will:

· Provide all curriculum materials, administrative, and logistical support

· Pay for or provide all food and supplies required

Summer Interns will:

· Interns must complete necessary clearances - PA Criminal Background, Child Abuse Background Check, and FBI Fingerprinting; any clearances required through ESF, and if placed in New Jersey, other clearances that might be required in New Jersey.

· Interns will receive mandatory training in advance of start date with VCP and ESF.

· Interns will be able to use this experience toward a professional practicum or community service project.

· Interns are responsible for assisting in the instruction of the daily lesson as well as any food preparation or other educational preparation that is necessary for the lesson.

· Interns must be able to lift approximately 50 pounds and have reliable transportation.

Qualities we’re looking for:

Ability to assist in managing a classroom and keep students engaged

Must be 18 years or older

Motivated person with a passion for our mission

Basic knowledge of subject matter with a curiosity to continuing learning

· Confidence in the kitchen, knowledge of basic cooking techniques, and an ability to follow a recipe

· Enthusiastic personality with great communication skills including timely email responses

Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

· Commitment to be at every class session, arrive prepared, and with ample time to set up
