Submission

  • Email your ES Lecture report as attachment in MS Word within two weeks after the lecture.
  • Resubmit in response to the instructor’s comments within one week.
  • Submit the draft slides of your presentation at least one week before your talk for comments.
  • Submit your finalized slides of your talk right after your talk for documentation.

File Name format of your document: Use the following format to name the document when submitelectronically.

  • Your LastName_Document_N where
  • Document = ES_Lecture, Draft_Slides, Final_Slides
  • N = the lecture sequence number you attended, or the short title of your talk
  • Examples

  • Smith_Draft_Slides_EE_jobs
  • Washington_Final_Slides_JobHunting

We need to document your files in the appropriate folders to keep track, for CSU program review, ABET evaluators.

Your Reports: Use MS Word for your technical report with at least500 words, and usethe following format for your reports for electronic submission with the above file name format.

  • Start with the name, job title, and affiliation of the speaker, the title of the lecture, date and location of the talk, your name as the reporter, and the submission date of the report. Here is an example
  • A short introduction for your report
  • The technical body, importance of the lecture, advantage (pros) / disadvantages (cons) andespeciallyapplications
  • A paragraph summary/conclusion of the talk, what you learned from it, and your comments
  • A numbered list of the references you used. Make sure to refer to the list in the body of your report.
  • To get most out of the lecture, search the Internet and explain the technical terms you are not as much familiar with.

Your Presentation Slides: Use MS PowerPoint to develop and present you talk. Use the following format:

  • 1st slide: Title of your talk, your name, and date of your talk.
  • 2nd slide: Outline of your presentation.
  • 3rd slide: Introduce and explain what your talk is all about.
  • 4th and following slides: body, advantages & disadvantages, and applications.
  • Use diagrams, examples, A/V clips, or any mechanism that supports or helps your argument. You can make use of the Internet.
  • Slide before the last: Summarize your talk and conclude.
  • Last slide: Include the numbered list of the references you used for the content.

Please:

  • Submit the draft slides at least a week before your talk to your instructor for comments.
  • Implement the comments before your presentation.
  • Submit your finalized slides electronically to the instructor for documentation.
