Caritas Summer Camp 2003
The Caritas summer project is this year running into its third year. The project is a unique opportunity for young people to come together for a period of time, meet new people, have fun but above all make a difference in a person's life by giving our time and energies for a good cause.
Summer Camp Social Issues
The summer project this year will be focusing around four social issues. Volunteers will be able to choose between working with children in the children's hospital wards, mental health patients, people with special needs and the elderly.
The volunteers we are looking for are between the ages of 16 to 19 years.
For those looking for a job after school or after completing their studies, voluntary work of this nature helps you take a decision as to which path to choose in their career lives. Additionally, you will have the opportunity
to put your creative and organizational skills to good use in a team environment.
Project Structure
1. The project kicks off with a very dynamic and interactive training session on "Getting to Know Each Other" on the 5th July. This session will break down all barriers of communication and interaction between the participants with the scope of facilitating interaction within the Camp.
2. Orientation visits will then be held in the following week. Each
group of volunteers will visit their respective place of volunteering to
familiarize themselves with their working environment. They will be shown around by staff members, given talks and demonstrations about handling people who would be making use of the service, etc.
3. The residential Summer Camp kicks off on the 15th July when all the volunteers come together in a bungalow in the Maltese country-side. The mornings will be dedicated to voluntary work, while the afternoons will be spent in spiritual formation groups, out-door activities and preparation for the next day of voluntary work. The evenings will be a time to relax and have fun together. The summer camp comes to an end on Sunday 20th July
with an animated mass organised by all the team.
