JOB TITLE:Clinical IT Systems Administrator

LOCATION:49, Parkside, Wimbledon SW19

HOURS OF WORK:Full-time 37.5 hoursper week

RESPONSIBLE TO:Clinical Services Manager for Medical Oncology IT

Head of Radiotherapy Physics/Radiotherapy Manager for Radiation Oncology IT

IT Manager

ACCOUNTABLE TO:Cancer Services Manager

ROLE:

  • Lead as IT clinical systems administrator for oncology at Cancer Centre London (CCL) and Parkside Hospital (PH)
  • Prioritizing user support needs and plan implementation and development of clinical IT systems for oncology services
  • Support the cancer services manager and IT staff in strategy for future clinical IT project planning/development

LIAISES WITH:

The post holder works closely with the following:

  • Group IT manager and IT staff
  • Cancer Services Manager & CCL/PH oncology healthcare team including, consultants, RMO, physicists, radiotherapists, nurses, pharmacists and other key personnel
  • Aspen HO personnel as appropriate

MAIN OBJECTIVE OF THE POST

  1. Provide key professional link between all CCL and PH clinical end users of IT systems and the IT team
  1. Understand the background IT systems and be able to support IT staff to set up processes and systems to meet clinical demands of oncology users for cancer patient care

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Information Technology Services

Work alongside the current IT team maintaining and developing existing oncology systems from a clinical perspective, liaising with departments, vendors, management and the IT Team.

The position will initially be focused on the development, support and improvement to the recently upgraded Oncology Information System (Mosaiq v2.2) along with its integration to the Physics/Radiotherapy network, Patient Administration System (A-PAS) and the Pathology System.

Ensuring data integrity of information, monitoring backups, performing test restores of data/systems as well as updating IT system policies.

Clinical IT Services (radiotherapy and physics)

Ensuring the integrity of the radiotherapy simulation, treatment planning, treatment, record & verify and imaging systems

Maintenance of back-up systems and records, including patient data archival and retrieval systems

Maintenance of network and data security

Development of integrated networking (e.g. DICOM) with current and future systems at CCL and PH

Development of remote access for treatment simulation, prescription and treatment approval

Development of an interconnected LAN network for radiotherapy and physics

Report on system risk assessments

Medical IT Services (Chemotherapy and Pharmacy)

Provide helpdesk/troubleshooting support post Mosaiq-upgrades (including non-clinical validation)

Build and run customised crystal reports from Mosaiq data as required by clinical and managerial staff (e.g. workload, order sets etc)

Implement monthly FDB upgrades

New user set-up

Work on interfaces between Mosaiq and other systems (eg Winpath, APAS)

Develop remote access service for Mosaiq via Citrix

Build assessments on Mosaiq in conjunction with Clinical Projects Co-ordinator for purposes of audit work

Build required data fields to allow SACT data reporting

Support for nursing staff at PH as Mosaiq users

Additional Services

Supporting the Ardeo’s eMDT and the haemato-oncology database.

Supporting e-Prescribing and treatment review at the point of care

Working towards a paper-light environment

Supporting training/future upgrades

Supporting remote access

Out of hours support as required

Clinical IT Systems Administrator

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential

On the voluntary register for Clinical Technologists or eligible for such registration.

Degree or equivalent

Experience of maintenance of clinical IT systems

Have the ability to solve problems where they occur, either alone or with the help of other members of the team

Have the ability to work in sensitive patient areas with tact, maintaining patient confidentially at all times.

Candidates who do not have English as a first language should provide evidence of achievement of IELTS Level 7 or higher (or an equivalent score in a recognised test)

Desirable

Evidence of further studies/ CPD

Completion of relevant training e.g. by suppliers

Experience of commissioning IT systems in both the clinical and medical oncology

Some experience of developing such systems

Some experience in another field, e. g. quality management
