These are the activities discussed with the club however pitch availability etc will play a part on which nights the activities can take part. This will be confirmed next week.

NHF Activity Week in conjunction with the Camogie Association

And Naomh Eamann Camogie Club, Co.Laois

Aim: To promote Nutrition, Health and Fitness using the Camogie Association to all abilities and age groups.

Monday: All underage groups

u-6,u-8,u-10,u-12 and u-14

Hold mini group training sessions for each age group and the divide into teams consisting of 2 players from each age group playing Go Games Blitzs.

Spot Prizes and Hand outs needed.

Tuesday: Fitness for the older

Hold a physical training for both parents and the under 14 squads

Include SAQ and Circuit training.

Hold Relays over and back the pitch with mixed teams of adults and kids.

Nutrition talk to Parents regarding food and dietary requirements of kids playing sport.

Wednesday:Indoor Fundamentals workshop with under age and parents.

Use the Mum and Me programme and get their parents involved with coaching.

Under 8’s and 10’s

Thursday: Wall ball Session using the u-12 and u-14 Squads.

Friday:Special guest training sessions with Local inter-county player and a presentation to all kids who participated.

Saturday:

Camogie Carnival Day.

Playing target games using a Tyre.

Relay Races.

Skills Testing for both Adults and Kids.

Face painting and Special Guest

Sunday:

Sunday:Hold a game between the Gaa and the Camogie Clubs (wigs and wellys!!)

Healthy snacks provided for afterwards.

CLOONEY/QUIN GAA CLUB ACTIVITY WEEK

JULY 2ND – JULY 8TH

Activity Target Group

Day 1Fun Launch All Age Groups

  • Launch the week invite all the community down to the pitch to start the week off.
  • Could possibly play a mixed match or do the Wigs and Wellies to draw a crowd.
  • Advertise week of activity in local newsletter/mass newsletter on week previous- maybe get local celebrity to launch it

Day 2Olympic skills star Challenge/ Feile skills Challenge U14 players.

  • Skills to be similar to Feile Skills.
  • Maybe add a few fun ones from obstacle course - who can strike ball through tyre, into a bucket, crossbar challenge etc.

Day 3Wall Challenge/Wall Ball Marathon U12 - Adult

  • Could have targets on wall and points for hitting certain targets and run a competition.
  • Or competition on how many times/how long you can strike ball off wall and into hand
  • Could add in keepy-uppys for younger ones/people waiting their turn on the wall where space is tight

Day 4Obstacle Course 7-12 yr olds

  • Obstacle course at pitch, course would include Camogie skills plus some fun tasks.
  • Could also make this fun by introducing things like Soloing the sliotar for half the race and switching to egg and spoon the rest of the way etc.
  • Use of ladders, hurdles, tyres and other equipment in obstacle course

Day 5Come Hurl with Me Parents and 6- 10 yr olds

  • As per our Come Hurl with me template

Day 6Caman & Run U16/Minor

  • Go Game Blitz for U8s/U10s - invite 2 or 3 neighbouring clubs or clubs from outside the county to participate.
  • Have the Caman and Run during a break in the blitz, with each team taking players to the event.
  • Couples Caman & Run/ Parent & Child, Dads n Daughters

Day 7Puck around Town/Final Fun Day All age groups

  • Finish the week with something for everyone.
  • Puck around Town or could also invite a guest team to play an exhibition match.
  • Or could have a full day of games where all teams in the club play a challenge match and teams stay down the pitch to support each other.

More Suggestions:
