Position Overview:

The U.S.Women’sNationalTeamstaff isselectedeveryfouryears by USLacrosseand isprimarilyresponsiblefortheselection,training,management,and leadership ofthe USWNT.Teamstaff will serveunder the leadership oftheHead Coach and USLacrosseforthedurationof position’sterm,whichconcludesfollowing the2022US LacrosseConvention.

TheAssistantTeam Managershould haveprovenadministrativeandoperationalexperience managing effortson behalf ofa lacrosseteam orprogram.Applicantshould have experiencewith andbesupportiveof USLacrosseand theNationalTeamprogram,andshoulddemonstrate awillingnesstopromoteand growthe program.

2021 U.S.Women’s NationalTeamAssistantCoachJob Description

Eachassistantcoachmusthave:

  • Significantcompetitivelacrossecoaching experienceat thecollegiate and/orprofessionalleveland a demonstrated record of successonthe field as acoachandmentortoathletes.
  • Experiencewithand demonstrated supportof USLacrosseandtheUSWNTprogram.
  • A willingnesstopromoteandgrowtheUSWNTprogram.
  • A willingnessand capacity todevelop relationshipswith othercurrentandformerU.S.NationalTeamcoaches,staff, andplayers.
  • Strong communication skills andpositiverelationshipswith professional,collegiate,high school,and club coaches.
  • Experiencewithand exposure to theFederationof InternationalLacrosse(FIL)andwomen’sinternationalgame.
  • Provencapacityforraisingfunds on behalfof theteam.
  • Experienceworkingwith an athleticdirector,athleticadministration,or thelike.

Eachassistantcoachassistswith theselection,training,coaching andleadershipoftheUSWNT.Specifically,theassistantcoach isresponsiblefor:

  • WorkingwiththeHeadCoach,US Lacrosse PlayerSelection Committee,and theNationalTeamsOperations Manager in theprocessofrecruiting andscreening applicants,and selectingmembersof theUSWNT.Thisalso includesthe selectionoftrainingandWorld Championship rosters.
  • Participating inand leading all teampractices andcompetitions.
  • Coachthe USWNT intheSpring Premiere,Fall Classic,and anyotherUSWNTeventsfortheduration oftheterm.
  • Supporting and enforcing theexclusiveuseof the official teamsponsors’equipment and apparelbyteam staffmembersand players.
  • Activelyengaging in all teamfundraising efforts–personalsolicitations,on-siteappearances,letterwritingcampaigns,etc.–and holding playersaccountablefordoing so.
  • Speakingand/ororganizingteamdemonstrationsatthe US LacrosseNationalConvention.
  • Promoting theteamusing theresourcesprovidedbyUSLacrosseand through allavailablechannels–print,television,radio,online,socialmedia,etc.
  • Helping develop thecurriculumfortheU.S.NationalTeamcoach andplayerclinics, andparticipating in theseclinics as needed.
  • Serving as apositivespokesperson for the USWNT,US Lacrosse, andwomen’s lacrosseas asport.

Assistant TeamManagerJob Description

TheAssistant Team Managerwill:

  • Assist with and attendall teameventsas determinedby theHeadCoachand NationalTeams Operations Manager, andprovideinputfortheUSWNTcalendar.
  • Assist with team travel and transportation,including teamrooming lists,busing schedules,teammeals,andthehandling ofperdiemsforplayers,coaches andstaff.
  • Coordinateteamschedulein conjunction with the HeadCoachandNationalTeams Operations Manager,including practices,exhibitions,training camp,andgames.
  • Coordinateequipment and associatedapparel,including:
  • Identifyteamequipment and apparelneeds.
  • Establishaccuratesizing listsforteamandstaffmembers.
  • Distribute,collect,manage,andmaintainall equipmentand apparel.
  • Enforce useof sponsors’equipment and apparelbyplayers andstaff.
  • Coordinateteamgifts,clinics,and appearances.
  • FollowingUS Lacrossebusinessrulesand financepolicies, including collecting receipts.
  • Assistwithon-sitesetup andbreakdown,andotherduties as assignedbythe National Teams Operations Manager.

TheVideographerwill:

  • Handle all video-relatedmatters,including:
  • Filmpractices andgamesas wellashandlescoutingopportunities.
  • Breakdownfilmanddeliver it to theplayersandcoaching staff in appropriateformatsand in atimelymanner,including procuring necessaryvideoresources.
  • Manageand caring fortheU.S.NationalTeamvideo equipment.

Accountability:

Theteam staffservesunderthedirectionofthe HeadCoach and USLacrosse.The US Lacrosse Directorof High Performancewillconducta performancereviewofthe U.S.Women’s NationalTeamstaff following theWorldCup.Each staffmembermustsigna US Lacrosseconflictofinterestpolicy statement, a codeofconductstatement,be aUS Lacrosse member,subjectthemselvestoa backgroundcheck,and sign a coachingagreement.Anyviolationof the abovewillsubjectthe individual to thedisciplinaryprocessesof USLacrosse.Should a staffmemberbeunabletofulfilltheirtermofservice(i.e.removalby the BoardofDirectors,resignation,death,etc.), US Lacrosseand theHead Coach will select areplacementaccording to theselection process.

Inorderto maintainpractices thatprotectthepublicandadvancethe coaching profession and theU.S.NationalTeamsprogram, each staffmembermust:

  • Maintain positiveassociation withUS Lacrosse,itsprograms,chapters,sponsorsandaffiliates.
  • Continuepersonaland professionalgrowth,remainingcurrentonnewdevelopments inthefieldthrough continuing education.
  • Alwaysstrivetobetruthfulandputcolleaguesor professionalsin a positivelightand avoiddiscrimination in allof itsforms.

Inorderto maintainrelationships with athletesonaprofessionalbasis,eachstaffmemberwill:

  • Conductall relationshipsfroma perspectiveof dignityandsound educationalfoundation.
  • Workandstriveto develop everymemberof theteam.
  • Showsensitiveregardforthemoral,social,religious,and sexualorientationsofothers.
  • Recognize thetrust placedinandunique powerofthecoach-athleterelationship.

Inorderto maintain positiverelationshipswith USLacrossevolunteersand staff,each staffmember will:

  • Interactwith staff andvolunteersprofessionally andon a confidentialbasis,to avoid exploitingtheir trustanddependency.

Termof Service:

Theteam staffservesa termbeginning December2017,and extending throughJanuary2022.Theselectedstaffwill begin theirterm only afterthe U.S.Women’s NationalTeamSubcommitteecompletesathorough selectionprocess,the BoardofDirectorsapproves theselection,and USLacrosse receives allnecessarydocumentationfromthecandidate.

US Lacrossewillpayforthe reasonablecostoftravel,meals,andlodging for allteam events(see NationalTeamtravelpolicy).This is avolunteerposition.However,pending a favorablereviewandthecompletionof all dutiesspelled out in thisjob description, each assistantcoach andassistantteam manageriseligibleto receivean honorariumof– $7,500.00 in total – for the term of the agreement.
