APPLICATION FOR FUNDING ASSISTANCE

The attached application form is for the following:

(a)emergency or special funding assistance (maximum limit $10,000);

(b)the Disability Access Fund

(c)Jubilee Debt Extinction Grants.

All other applications for funding must be presented as mission proposals and forwarded to the Board of Mission and Resourcing (BOMAR) via your presbytery or sponsoring body by 19 April. Proposal forms are available from your presbytery or the Mission and Resource Development Unit.

Please read notes below before completing the attached application form. Any queries may be directedto Mission Planning and Resource Unit (phone 9251 5258; fax 9251 5241).

This form is available from the Uniting Church (BOMAR) website Ideally, after downloading, the form should be saved and the necessary information inserted electronically. Once completed, the necessary church council and presbytery approvals must be obtained. Please do not send copies to the Grants and Loans Committee prior to obtaining these approvals. Sending unapproved applications does not reduce the time taken to process applications as unapproved applications will be returned.

Notes on completing this form

1All applications must have the approval of presbytery or relevant sponsoring body.

2ALL sections of the application form relevant to your organisation must be completed. Incomplete applications cannot be considered by the Grants and Loans Committee and will be returned to the applicant.

3Applications for emergency or special funding can be made throughout the year and will be considered at the Grants and Loans Committee meeting immediately following receipt of the application. (Meetings are scheduled at intervals of approximately 6 weeks).

4Applications for Jubilee Debt Extinction Grants must be received by 19 April. The Grants and Loans Committee will make recommendations to BOMAR on applications received to be considered at BOMAR’s June conference.

All BOMAR recommendations on funding are taken to Synod and applicants will be advised of the outcome of their applications in early October. Jubilee Debt Extinction Grants will be paid in January of the year following approval.

Please note that Jubilee Debt Extinction Grants of up to $5,000 are offered to congregations and church agencies to encourage repayment of Development Fund loans.

Applicants are required to pay 1.5 times the value of the grants off their loan in order to be eligible. This condition may be waived if the relevant presbytery considers that there are special circumstances.

Applicants should also note that Jubilee Debt Extinction Grants are not available for the reduction of Interest Free loans.

Please note that further information on financial matters is available in the Resource Manual which provides information on BOMAR proposals, planning a building project, buying, selling or leasing UC property, insurance, the Development Fund, the UC Cash Management fund and other useful information. The Resource Manual is loose leaf for easy updating and replacement of individual pages and it is available to all congregations for $15 photocopying costs plus $5.00 postage. A copy can be obtained from the Mission and Resource Development Unit on 9251 5256.
