  3. Studying- must keep a binder of study materials that we will help you build
  1. Check Mrs. Ballard’s website for last year’s competition questions, and additional study materials will be added throughout the year.
  1. Parent Help- Parents are needed as volunteers during competitions, and also as transportation to and from matches. Coach Ballard will email a contact list so that all parents may arrange carpools together

  1. Topic 2: Practice- essential for the success of the Academic Team! You MUST attend PRACTICE in order to COMPETE.

*We will have practice on either Tuesdays OR Thursdays after school in Coach Ballard (c-3) or SUBJECT TO CHANGE AFTER COACHE’S MEETING

  1. Topic 3: Matches

We will know when the matches will be as soon as we have the annual coaches meeting with the other coaches in our league (which is usually the week before Fall break). Usually, we have practice on either Tuesday or Thursday, and then we have our matches against other teams on either Tuesday or Thursday.

Topic 4: Competitions

  1. 6th Grade Showcase
  1. Composition & FPS- event will be after school/evening onTuesday, December 1
  2. All other events (assessments, Quick Recall) will be Saturday, December 5 starting around 8 a.m. (Location TBA)
  1. District Governor’s Cup (7th & 8th grade)
  1. Composition & FPS- event will be after school/evening on Tuesday, January 19, 2015
  2. All other events (assessments, Quick Recall) will be Saturday, January 23 starting around 8 a.m. (Location TBA)
  3. REGIONAL Governor’s cup: If our students place high enough in their events at the DISTRICT Governor’s Cup Competition, then our school will move on to compete in the REGIONAL Governor’s cup Competition. This is Tuesday, February 9th & Saturday, January 13th.
  4. State Governor’s Cup (always held at the Galt House in Louisville). In the past, we usually have at least a handful of students who move on to the State level competition. If your child moves on to the State Gov’s Cup, then they will need to be taken to Louisville in order to compete. The state competition is March 19-21

Possible Fund Raisers:
