Beulah Park District Held Its Monthly Meeting on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at City Hall At

Beulah Park District held its monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at City Hall at 5:30 p.m.

Present: Robby Volk, Rick Alexander, Kris Martens, Deb Schlecht,Bridgette Martens, Lucas Duncan, Bob Mohl& Deb Bonebrake, (Dr. Aaron Garman & Michelle Brouwer of Fast Pitch Softball).

Absent:Jim Nelson

Agenda: Add Bill Payment Plan under Wellness Center. D. Schlecht made a motion to approve agenda. R. Alexander seconded. All in favor. Motion passed.

The meeting began with Dr. Aaron Garman & Michelle Brouwer of Fast Pitch Softball to discuss plans for Concessions Stand & Future plans. See attached information packet. Park board agreed with the colors of tin the Fast-Pitch Softball decided on for the dug-outs.

Change to Minutes: A motion was made by D. Schlecht to approve the revised minutes to last month’s meeting. Seconded by R. Alexander. All in favor. Motion carried.

A motion was made by R. Alexander to approve the Financial Report and the Profit and Loss Statements. Seconded byD. Schlecht. All in favor. Motion carried.

A motion was made by D. Schlechtto approve the Vendor Report. Seconded by R. Alexander. All in favor. Motion carried.

Staff Report:

Martens:Martens stated the following:

Active Net is up and running, and working well.

Lion’s Park there is a very small chance on getting the grant. Doesn’t believe he will be able to help improve that park.

Riverside Park would like to add fire pit & clean up Frisbee Golf Course. May entertain idea of adding another piece of playground equipment.

Duncan:Duncan stated the following:

St. Patrick’s Day 5K – not going very well

Riverside Rage – planning a triathlon for 3-5 year olds & a medieval rush type event for kids ages 6-12.

Bonebrake:Bonebrakeprovided her written report for each of the Commissioners. See attached report.

Mohl:Mohl provided his written report for each of the Commissioners. See attached report.

Bath house at Riverside has a couple of loose pieces of siding due to wind.

Unfinished Business:

None

New Business:Deb Schlecht made a motion to approve Fast Pitch Softballs request to change doors on the concessions stand at a cost of $1,900.00. R. Alexander seconded. All in favor.

Motion passed.

Wellness Center:Partial permit approved.

Bid Packet #1 was due March 2nd.

Received additional bids for Fitness equipment

Park board is now in charge of the project.

A motion was made by D. Schlecht to allow Robby Volk & Rick Alexander to approve monthly bills, alternate & change orders from the CMAR (Construction Manager at Risk) during the construction phase of the new Wellness Center. R. Alexander seconded. All in favor. Motion passed.

Weekly meetings with the CMAR begin tomorrow 03/08/2017.

Construction loan was approved for $6.5 million. It will be interest only thru the construction phase; after completion it will be principal plus interest with a monthly payment of approximately $30,000.

Beulah Bay:Dakota Waters held their seasonal camping lottery yesterday.

Concessionaires’ meeting is scheduled for March 29th.

Craig Askim of Mercer County Extension Service will look at the trees in

June to see what is causing the problems.

We will advertise for the Caretaker position again.

No major projects are being planned for this season. Will put up a privacy fence behind the office.

Baseball/Softball Update:Duncan was looking at what other towns do for transportation of their legion teams. Majority of towns rent a bus w/ fees of $10-20/player at an estimate cost of $2,400/season. Duncan will contact West River Transit to see is they would consider doing as a contract with the Park District. Then we would look at selling the Legion Bus.

Duncan stated he was going to contact area colleges to see if any of their baseball players would be willing to coach. Would we be willing to pay room & board?

Haven’t heard from the Baseball Boosters as to a meeting date.

Legion Sign letters will be sent out in April.

Softball Complex Concession Stand: What did insurance pay after the flood. We need to have an electrician look at building and give estimate for repairs.

Concerns/Issues:Sidewalks at the Fit Club need to be cleaned of snow more regularily.

There being no further business, R. Alexander made a motion to adjourn. Seconded by D. Schlecht. All in favor. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 7:00 pm.
