AMT Gospel shows continue to grow

The American Mountain Theater’s 2012 Southern Gospel Concert Series opens this Sunday, April 15, with a performance by Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver at 3 p.m. in the historic Rail Yard in Elkins, W.Va.

American Mountain Theater’s growing Southern Gospel Concert Series will bring in an amazing list of national stars to Elkins, W.Va., in 2012 for AMT’s fourth year of hosting the series, including several returning favorites and some great new faces.

The Gospel shows take place at 3 p.m. on select Sunday afternoons, adding a sound of praise to AMT’s schedule that also includes the Premier 2-Hour Show, History of American Music Show, and Christmas Spectacular. Those taking the stage through the rest of this year include Triumphant Quartet, The Perrys, The Booth Brothers, The Hoppers, The Talleys and The Whisnants, The Isaacs, and Jeff and Sheri Easter.

Triumphant Quartet on May 6, will mark the group’s second appearance at AMT. You’re sure to enjoy the traditional southern gospel quartet sound of this GRAMMY nominated group. They are also winners of numerous Singing News Fan Awards including “Traditional Male Quartet of the Year” for the past three years, as well as winners of 2011 “Song of the Year” and “Album of the Year.”

The Perrys are a Singing News favorite who will make their first visit to Randolph County on June 3, bringing 40 years of experience singing and praising God. The family received 11 Top 5 Singing News Fan Award nominations this year, and the group is a regular on the charts.

The Booth brothers, coming July 8, also are a first-time visitor to the American Mountain Theater and one of the hottest groups in Southern Gospel music. The trio brings beautiful harmonies that have been featured on the Gaither Homecoming Series, and have garnered them multiple Singing News Fan Awards and GRAMMY and Dove Award nominations.

Coming back to Elkins on July 29 will be the Hoppers. Founded more than 50 years ago, “America’s Favorite Family of Gospel Music,” is one of the most acclaimed and awarded family recording groups in the industry.

The Talleys and the Whisnants both appear on the AMT stage for the first time on Aug. 26. The Talleys bring ten No. 1 hits from East Tennessee to the Potomac Highlands lead by the dynamic voice of vocalist Lauren Talley. While the Whisnants country sound has made them a fan favorite since 1970, bringing with it ten No. 1 singles and numerous Top 20 hits.

AMT favorites The Isaacs come back for 2012 on Sept. 23, on the heels of six Dove Award nominations. They also are frequent performers at the Grand Ole Opry and active members of the Gaither Homecoming Series.

Closing the 2012 Southern Gospel Series on Oct. 28 will be Jeff and Sherri Easter, who regularly play to sold-out audiences at AMT. They have gospel music in their DNA and have a distinctive country sound that has earned them numerous awards, including five Dove Awards.

American Mountain Theater looks forward to hosting this special Southern Gospel Concert Series every year, and hopes that you’ll join them for one or more of their fabulous shows.
