Job Title - Marketing and Events Officer

Responsible to – Event Manager

Salary - £21,000 per annum

Based at – Marathon Office, Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park, Upper Malone Road, Belfast, BT17 9LA

Working Week – 37 hours per week

One year contract

1.0 Main Purpose of Job

To be responsible to the Event Manager of the Belfast City Marathon for all assistance in implementing marketing projects and initiatives identified within the company’s business plan. This will include, but not be limited to, the delivery of the Belfast City Marathon/Belfast City Half Marathon.

The post holder will also be expected to work as part of a team to provide assistance with administrative and technical duties relative to Belfast City Marathon/Belfast City Half Marathon.

2.0 Job Description

-To be responsible for executing marketing initiatives to increase participation numbers.

-To monitor and communicate market/industry trends, customer feedback and adjust campaigns to the Event Manager.

-To develop and maintain a social media and online strategy to support participation recruitment.

-To develop creative and engaging content for a range of channels including print and online; production of marketing material, press releases and e-zines.

-To maintain and update the company’s website.

-To liaise with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

-To engagewith universities and colleges to support recruitment.

-To undertake duties in such a way (including weekends and evenings) as to enhance and protect the reputation and public profile of Belfast City Marathon.

-To undertake such other duties as from time to time may be required.

1.0Qualifications

Applicants must have a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline such as Events Management, Marketing, Business Management or Sports Studies.

2.0Experience

Essential Criteria

2.1Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they have at least one year’s full time (or part time equivalent) relevant experience gained within a marketing background.

2.2 Demonstrable experience of delivering digital marketing campaigns.

2.3Demonstrable experience of working with external stakeholders and media relations.

2.4 Demonstrable experience of designing and producing marketing materials and brochures.

2.5Demonstrable experience of delivering excellent customer care.

2.6Evidence of managing multi-facetted customer facing operations effectively in pressurised circumstances.

2.7Experience of working with the public.

2.8 Evidence in drafting correspondence in the form of letters, press releases, reports etc.

Desirable Criteria

2.9Demonstrable experience of two years’ full time (or part time equivalent) in a marketing role.

2.10Demonstrable that any (minimum of one year) marketing experience is associated with the organisation of events.

3.0 Special Skills and Attributes

3.1Knowledge of content management systems for company website.

3.2 Excellent organisational, planning and operational management skills.

3.3 Excellent verbal and communication skills.

3.4 Excellent copywriting skills.

3.5Competent and confident in the use of standard IT packages (Microsoft Office).

3.8 Demonstrable success in leadership, motivation and team building

4.0Circumstances

Essential Criteria

4.1 Must be able to work additional hours, some of which may be at weekends, evenings or at short notice.

4.2Hold a full current driving licence to drive within Northern Ireland and access to a form of transport, which will permit the postholder to meet all the requirements of the post in full.

Interviews will take place on Tuesday 13th June at Athletics House, Mary Peters Track, Belfast.
