I would like to inform you that the Bar Council of India in collaboration with Menon Institute of Legal Advocacy (MILAT), National Law University Delhi and Bar Association of India is conducting a workshop for lawyers of North Zone of India (Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Haryana, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Delhi) with less than 5 years of practice, as part of its programme of Continuing Legal Education from 10th February to 12th February, 2012 at National Law University, Delhi at Dwarka, the details of which are given in the notice enclosed herewith.

You are kindly requested to send the said notice to all the Bar Associations in the State and ensure its display prominently on their notice boards for information to one & all of their members and also contact the principal office bearers of the respective Associations to make the programme a success.

10th to 12th February 2012

The Bar Council of India in collaboration with Menon Institute of Legal Advocacy (MILAT), National Law University Delhi and Bar Association of India is conducting a residential workshop for 50 (fifty) lawyers of North Zone of India (Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Haryana, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Delhi) with less than 5 years of practice, as part of its programme of Continuing Legal Education from 10th February to 12th February, 2012 at National Law University, Delhi at Dwarka. While the inaugural session will commence at 05.00 p.m. on Friday, the 10th February, 2012, on the remaining days the session will commence at 10.00 a.m. and will continue for the whole day.

The subjects of the workshop will be as follows: -

1.State of Legal Profession, concerns and future possible directions.

2.Constitutional Jurisdiction and its impact on Trial Court practice.

3.Code of Ethics, Professional Responsibilities and successful careers at the Bar.

4.Criminal Advocacy: Skills and Strategies

5.Moot Court Practice Sessions on Criminal Advocacy

6.Civil Litigation and ADR Systems.

7.Practice Sessions on Mediation and Arbitration.

8.Group Discussion on Professional Development.

Young lawyers with less than 5 years of practice from the States of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Haryana, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Delhi alone will be eligible for attending the said workshop. The total number of participants will be 50. The participants will be selected by a Committee headed by Prof. (Dr.) N. R. Madhava Menon. Registration fee will be Rs.500/-. Advocates who are interested to participate in the workshop may apply immediately in the prescribed application format so as to reach the Bar Council of India on or before 15.01.2012.

NB:-

  1. All participants will stay at Venue of the programme only those who belong to the City where it is held alone are exempted from the residence at the Venue. Accommodation on twin sharing basis will be arranged in the hostel of Host Law University/Law Insitute.
  2. A separate application is required for each programme
  3. Each applicant should apply individually through concerned State Bar Council.
  4. The completed application should reach Bar Council of India at least before the date of commencement of the programme.
  5. All travel expenses are to be met fully by the participants or by the sponsoring organisation.
  6. Any medical expense during the programme will be the responsibility of the participant.
  7. The demand draft be drawn in favour of “Bar Council of India Trust” payable at New Delhi
  8. Selected candidates will be informed at least two weeks before the programme. The registration fee of those not selected will be refunded in full.
  9. As several States are clubbed together for each region and the maximum number is fixed at 50, not more than 10 advocates from a State can join the course. Those who could not be accommodated may be considered against the next course if they so choose.
  10. Only those participants who successfully complete all the prescribed assignments of the programme will be entitled to receive the Certificate at the end of the course.
