Job Description

Title: BBO Project Co-ordinator

Reporting to: SMT member – Managing BBO project

Responsible for: ESOL Tutor, Volunteer Coordinator and Employment Coach

Salary:£27,394

Hours: 35 Hours a week

Contract- 3 years fixed term contract

Probation period:4 months

Annual Leave:21 days plus all statutory Bank holidays

Pension:RMC offer a pension scheme with Scottish Widows and contribute 3%

Purpose of the Job:

RMC will be delivering two projects under the ‘Building Better Opportunities’(BBO) programme funded by European Social Fund (ESF) and Big Lottery (BL). We will be working with Steps to Work to provide support for over 24 year olds and Heart of England Community Foundation to support targeted communities, both with improving employability. Our beneficiaries for this project are refugees and migrants with the right to work in the UK.

  • As part of this role you will co-ordinate both projects ensuring delivery against agreed delivery and development plans, ensuring the RMCBBO projects remain on track and meet necessary requirements including monitoring, reporting, timescales and evaluation.
  • To ensure all aspects of the delivery programmes meet a very high standard, reaching out to some very marginalised and vulnerable people.
  • To line manage specific staff and/or volunteers in compliance with RMC’s policies and procedures to ensure quality delivery of projects and professional development of staff. This will include working in ways which demonstrate best practice.

Principal Tasks

Programme / Project delivery

  • To develop and support delivery of group and 1:1 sessions around improving employability at RMC.
  • Work with beneficiaries to set personal goals, actions and milestones.
  • To line manage and support other members of the project team to deliver a cohesive service. This includes the ESOL provision, employment coach support and volunteers.
  • Provide specific support for job search and accessing training and further education. This will include employability training : CV writing, interview skills, IT skills and career guidance and include accessing financial support e.g. for a bus pass, clothing, alongside employer links and volunteering opportunities.
  • To support core aims of programme as a whole, as decided at Board level.
  • To work within strict budgets and deadlines in accordance with external funding and RMCs’ policies, procedures and practices.
  • To prepare regular claims and reports for funders, ensuring levels of delivery, record keeping and monitoring meet funders’ and Finance department requirements.
  • Assist SMT in the preparation of reports to the Board.

Communication and Marketing

  • To represent RMCBBO Projects at appropriate meetings with a range of partners and stakeholders. This may include occasional evening and weekend working.
  • To promote the RMC’s BBO activities in the local media, with partners and funders and at appropriate meetings as necessary.
  • To undertake additional marketing and communication activity in line with the BBO project and the requirements of the Programme Manager.

Additional responsibilities

  • Undertake training and development deemed necessary for the pursuance of the post

  • Ensure that Health and Safety is observed in the course of employment.
  • Undertake other related responsibilities directly related to ESF-funded BBO activitiesas may reasonably be requested.
  • Work with due regard for RMCs’ core values and objectives.

A DBS check will be carried out for this post.

Flexibility

  • In order to deliver the stated aims of for this post, a degree of flexibility is needed and the post holder may be required to perform work not specifically referred to above. Such duties will fall within the scope of the job and be directly related to ESF-funded BBO activitieswithin the appropriate pay grade. The job description will therefore be subject to periodic review with the post holder to ensure it accurately reflects the duties that are being performed.

Person Specification

Essential
Formal qualifications in maths and English
Experience of working with vulnerable communities
Previous experience of managing staff
A broad understanding of the economic and social needs of residents living in disadvantaged neighbourhoods
Ability to relate to and motivate people
Ability to maintain a professional attitude and boundaries in working with clients
Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
Excellent communication and listening skills
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
Ability to undertake the required project and financial monitoring procedures
Ability to analyse problems and devise solutions
Ability to work as part of a team involving staff employed by multiple organisations and with minimum supervision
Ability to plan, implement and manage projects
