Watson read the May birthdays. We sang to Jim Ryals, Eara Lee Ward, Gary Holmes and Rich Arnhart.

The first mini concert was given by Charlotte Henson. She sang “What A Beautiful Day For The Lord To Come Again”, and “Ain’t No Grave”, Charlotte sings to senior citizens all over the bay area.

Treasurer Sally Currey read the April Treasurer’s Report. Katherine Ryals moved it be accepted as read, Tootsie Dann seconded and all approved.

Secretary Wilma Morrison gave a report on the Trumpet. The next issue will be the July/August issue.

Vice President Joe Kotal talked about the upcoming showcases. The Trumpet list the date for May as the 16th. It will be on the 15th at 1st Baptist of North Channel. The June showcase will be on June 19th at Dell Dale Avenue Baptist Church in Channelview. They begin at 6:30 pm.

Prayer requests and praise reports were given for: the Becky Ivie family in the Homegoing of Becky, Mike Cotter of Crimson Heart passed away Sunday and his service will be at the Carter Funeral Home on Thursday at 2 pm; Brandon Johnson is doing some better in Corpus Christi. Nelda, JC and Sonny need our prayers during this time also, Debbie Holyfield has more bad days than good as she now has some kidney stones; Madeline Bowers, Katherine Ryals’ granddaughter; Janell Mota has blood clots in her lung, Jessie Thompson requested prayer for Gerald Smith having surgery on the 18th. Wilma Morrison gave a praise report on Myron’s great grandson, Dustin Martin. He is now Cancer free and doesn’t have to go back to the doctor for a year! Leonard Ward got a good report, Ray Churchwell’s daughter Sandy Cramer broke her foot, Leonard O’Brian has Cancer, Earl Hailey’s family and Linda Fonteneau. Arnold Carpenter prayed for these.

Watson reported the Spring Convention was great, hot but very good. The sound guys did a great job: Ray Walker, Charlie Rucher, Crossing Jordan guys and David Currey on the light were outstandingl The Silent Auction raised over $1000.00 for the 20th banquet expenses. The youth group of 1st Baptist of North Channel did an excellent job with the food booth and raised over $1,700.00 for their Summer Camp fund. Next year we will try to get the date closer to the 1st of April so the weather will not be so hot.

The BAGMA 20th Anniversary Banquet will be held on June 26th at the Texas Chiropractic College on Spencer, just east of Beltway 8. Members tickets are $7.50 and non members are $10.00. Children 16 and over can attend. The Board decided the age limit due to the distractions of the younger children’s shorter attention span. Tootsie will have the tickets at the Showcase on Saturday. Deadline to purchase tickets is June 15th. No tickets will be sold at the door as the caterer needs an accurate head count to prepare the food.

Gary Holmes is looking for singers to go to the Ronald McDonald Houses in Houston and Corpus Christi for those unable to get out toattend singings. A great opportunity for Ministry. Call Gary to set up a date/time.

Voices of Praise gave the last mini concert singing “Singin’ With The Saints”, “What Will You Do With Your Dash”, a song that Kathy wrote, “That’s God” and “They Baptized Jesse Taylor”. They have a great sound with new members Chris Hubbs and Perry Weeks on the harmonica. We appreciate Mark Kahler running the sound tonight.

Watson recognized visitors Ruth and Stephen Hueston and former member Don Eggers.

Tootsie lead our closing song “Standing On The Solid Rock” with Wilma playing piano.

Ray Walker dismissed in prayer.

Respectfully submitted

Wilma Morrison, Secretary
