Audiobooks from Overdrive
AUDIOBOOK INSTRUCTIONS:
Get the APP: Start by downloading the Overdrive app from the Google Play Store (Android) or the iTunes Store (Apple). Open the Overdrive App and swipe the screen to the right. Select Add a Library. Tap the star to save your choice.
Under Select Library, choose Washington Township Public Schools
Click on the link, Washington Township Public Schools users, please click here to sign into this system Use the same login and password that you use in school
Downloading Software: Before downloading any audiobooks, youfirst need to make sure you have the
Overdrive software download that enablesaudiobook listening. App Users: Youraudiobook should download and openautomatically on your device.
1. Once in Overdrive, click on Help. 2. Click Software. (It's the third linklisted.)
3. Click Overdrive Media Console.
4. Underneath the picture you will see listing of multiple devices (ex. iPhone, Android, Kindle, Windows, etc.) Click on the device you intend to use.
5. You will then be prompted to clickDownload. After clicking, the softwarewill automatically download and save toyour device.
6. After the software has downloaded,Open and Install the software. Nowyou are ready to find audiobooks!
Borrowing Audio Books
1. Once you have selected a book,click Borrow. This will take you toyour bookshelf. From here, you
may checkout or continue browsingfor books.
2. When you are ready to checkout,click the Download button next tothe book cover and select your
download format: MP3 Audiobook (for Kindle) OR WMA Audiobook. (Somebooks only use one format.)
3. After selecting your audiobookformat, click Confirm &Download.
4. The audiobook will automaticallydownload to your internet downloadfolder. Open the audio you
downloaded. It will automaticallyopen using Overdrive MediaConsole. From here you can listen
or use the Transfer button to openthe audiobook in a different programsuch as iTunes, Media Monkey,.
EPUB eBooks and MP3 Audiobooks on the Kindle Fire
Instructions for Kindle
The Kindle Fire is compatible \OverDrive MP3 Audiobooks. First, you must allow the installation of applications on your Kindle Fire. Go to “Quick Settings” (the gear wheel) and tap on the “More” option. Tap “Device” and move the switch “Allow Installation of Applications” to the “On” position.
Install the OverDrive Media Console Android App by going on the Kindle Fire’s web browser. Select the “Android Mobile” version. At the bottom of the screen, tap on the link that reads “If your device doesn’t support Android Market, you can download OverDrive Media Console for Android from OverDrive” and agree to the terms of use. The setup file will download; you will see the number “1” next to the name of your Kindle Fire in the upper left corner. Tap on the number and then tap on the “ODMediaConsoleSetup.apk” file to load the app.
You can now successfully download audiobooks in the MP3 format. WMA audiobooks are not compatible with the Kindle Fire. After you have checked out a title, tap the “Download” button. The title should load in the OverDrive Media Console.
To return a title early using the OverDrive Media Console, tap the + icon next to the title, or press and hold the title until a new menu appears. Choose “Delete” and then “Return and Delete.” Early returns for audiobooks are now permitted with OMC version 2.4 or newer.
