Yolo County, located just west of Sacramento, California, has a population of approximately 205,000. The Sacramento Metropolitan Area has a population of 2.1 million persons. Yolo County Transportation District (YCTD) is a special district made up by representation from the Cities of Woodland, Davis, West Sacramento, Winters and the County of Yolo, as well as the University of California at Davis and Caltrans. Formed in 1997, YCTD's roles have grown to include intercity public transportation, local public transportation,congestion management planning, acting as a countywide mechanism for federal applications for both transit and roads, as well as for input on updates to the Metropolitan Transportation Plan. YCTD currently owns 59 vehicles (including 43 CNG buses) and contracts out all its transit services to the private sector. YCTD is one of four local jurisdictions promoting the construction of a streetcar from West Sacramento to Downtown and Midtown Sacramento.

ASSISTANT TRANSPORTATION PLANNER ($56,334 TO $70,158 ANNUALLY) (LIMITED TERM)

The District will be hiring one (1) limited term positions falling under the Assistant Transportation Planner classification. This position requires the knowledge of: theory, principles, and practices of governmental and transportation planning, current trends in federal, state, regional and local transportation planning, financial and budgeting knowledge, statistical and research methods as applied to the collection of data, laws, ordinance, rules and regulations affecting land use. Knowledge of long-range transportation needs and transportation techniques, theory and principles of automated data collection and processing, working knowledge of Windows-based PCs, spreadsheet and database applications, and programming is required. Scheduling, temporary rerouting, graphics design and transit marketing/social media knowledge would be helpful.

Minimum one (1) year experience in transit service planning, transportation planning, land use planning, environmental planning, or closely related field. This entry-level position performs professional current and long-range planning duties of moderate difficulty.
