ARTIST MAKERRESIDENCY PROGRAM

At Create Space London (CSL) we are very pleased to announce our new Artist Maker Residency (AMR) program in partnership with Brent council’s Culture Service and part funded by Arts Council England.

From December the 1st, we will be accepting applications for a 6-month residency. The successful applicant will be granted a private studio space, 24-hour access to our site facilities, a £400pcm allowance and a three £3000 commissioned to be exhibited at the new Willesden Green Library Gallery space for 4 weeks.

During this time the resident will also be expected to carry out 6, 4 hour public engagement workshops that relate directly to the practice of the resident and that utilise the facilities at CSL. The AMR will help CSL to further explore the ways in which its makerspace can be used to engage the local community and support active learning and creative development. It will demonstrate the effectiveness of a makerspace as a platform for arts and technology education.

We are looking for applicants to generate proposals for works specific to the residency that will reflect three main aspects; collaboration, technology and visual communication. These elements should also be evident considerations in the applicant’s previous works. The thematic reasoning should be a means to inspire and imagine positive futures and outcomes for the relationship between humans as social animals and an increasingly technological environment.

Time frame:

Call for entries to begin in December 1st 2015 until February 29th 2016

Short list to be made by March 31st 2016
