GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES: / To provide support and guidance to campus administrators and staff regarding special education. The Coordinator must have extensive experience in special education along with effective communication skills.
QUALIFICATIONS: /
  • At least 3 years experience as a classroom teacher and/or special education teacher.
  • Education Administration certification and/or advanced professional certification.
  • Exceptional mastery of instruction and differentiation strategies.
  • Exceptional knowledge of recognized disabilities and their impact on student performance within the academic setting.
  • Ability to acquire, retain and remain current regarding pertinent legal knowledge as it relates to the assignment.
  • Extraordinary interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional mastery of professional communication, presentation and writing skills.
  • Ability to effectively focus on student, parent and state expectations as measured by RISD goals.
  • Capable of providing both a powerful influence as a leader and contributing as a team player.

  • Function as a critical catalyst to assist schools in the implementation of programming which will foster significant educational growth for students
  • Work cooperatively with all RISD education professionals to provide high quality programming and training.
  • Participate in the development of long-term planning which assures high-quality compliance with federal, state and local mandates.
  • Foster productive relationships with both parents and members of the educational community.
  • Maintain accurate records and paperwork.
