3. Summary of Oral Presentation Content

Please submit a brief summary of the content of your presentation to assist in orientating the panel with the content and format of your presentation. This can be presented in bullet points. (500 Words max)

Complete presentation to demonstrate Professional and Developmental Activities for PFHEA (D4). (This is not submitted with the application)

Part 1: Commentary on engagement with PFHEA Descriptors (40 mins)

Complete your presentation using the guidance document to assist you. Provide an oral commentary that demonstrates your strategic leadership role in the provision of HE learning and teaching (PFHEA D2-4) and integrates evidence of yourengagement with and championing of the UK PSF and your appropriate CPD.This could consist of:

  • 1 integrated case study
  • 3 cases studies
  • Strategic leadership in teaching and learning:
  • Development of strategic policies and strategies linked to teaching and learning
  • Development of integrated academic practice
  • An commentary related to a teaching and learning related journal/book publication demonstrating the required engagement with the UK PSF and PFHEA descriptors (this could also form one of the above case studies)

Ensure the reflective commentary incorporates on the learning resulting from the dialogue with your mentor linked to a peer observation of practice experience (see guidance document)

(please ensure you keep the indicative time allocation (40 mins) in mind when you are completing this section. You will be asked to stop if you exceed the time allocation)

Part 2: Commentary on engagement with Dialogue and Peer Observation (10 mins)

Complete this part of the presentation by articulating reflective commentary related to the dialogue you had with your mentor following your engagement with ‘peer observation’). This observation can be an observation you have already completed recently or you can arrange a new observation with your mentor.

You can participate in the observation as:

  • an Observer of a colleagues teaching and learning.
  • a teacher delivering a learning activity
  • a manager chairing a meeting
  • a mentor delivering a staff development session

If you are unsure of the focus of an observation discuss the options with your mentor.

Use this time to reflect on the observation and the dialogue that followed and evaluate your learning from this process and create an action plan for future practice development.
