Dear Parents/Guardians,

On June 6, 2012 your child will have the opportunity to celebrate eight years of academic success. Congratulations to you on your child’s accomplishments. We want to make this event a special one for you and for your child. Therefore, we are taking this opportunity to outline some of the procedures that will assist us in making this a memorable event for all.

Students should arrive at school no later than 8:10 AM and go straight to their homeroom class. To avoid parking concerns, there will be an All- Star shuttle bus available for your convenience, originating atthe parking lot at Nolan Field. It will begin transporting people to AMS at 8:45 AM and will be returning people at approximately 11:00 AM. Families will enter through the auditorium entrance at 9:00 AM. There will not be any entry until that time. Each family member must present a ticket in order to attend the assembly. Each student will be given three tickets and they will be handed out on Wednesday, May 30th.

The commencement assembly will take place in the AMS auditorium. We respectfully ask that you not bring any balloons or large gifts that might block anyone else’s vision during the ceremony. We also request that all carriages be left outside the auditorium so as not to obstruct the aisles. In addition, we ask that families remain in their seats throughout the ceremony in order to leave the aisles clear for students to pass.

At the ceremony, the highest ranking students from each team will speak to the student body. Awards will be presented to qualifying students and at this time also, the Principal, the Board of Education chairman, the Mayor and the Superintendent will offer comments and congratulations.

Following the ceremony, there will be a coffee hour reception in the gymnasium and/or courtyard, as the weather permits. Following the ceremony a photographer from Life Touch will be available in the gymnasium to take keepsake family photographs. A copy of theLife Touch flyer has been enclosed for your information. Parents may choose to take their children home after the ceremony is completed.

This is such a special time for you, your family, and for the staff. We are looking forward to sharing this time with you. Thank you in advance for your continued cooperation and thank you for allowing us to work with your children.

Sincerely,

Lynn Bennett-WallickJoseph R. Dobbins
