203.I.CALL TO ORDER
President Hemming called the meeting to order at 7:00p.m. in the J.K.L.BahwetingAnishnabeSchool, 1301 Marquette Avenue.
A.ROLL CALL OF BOARD
Board Members Present: Tracey E. Holt, William T. Eilola, Daniel L. Smith, Kenneth A. Hemming, David E. Scott, Kenneth D. Dunton, Martin R. Wolski.
Board Members Absent: None
204.B.ADOPTION OF THE AGENDA
It was moved by MemberScott, supported by MemberDunton, that the Board of Education move to adopt the agenda as presented.

Nays: None
Absent: Scott
Motion Carried.
II.PUBLIC COMMUNICATION AND CORRESPONDENCE
205.A.JKL BAHWETING ANISHNABE PUBLIC SCHOOL WELCOME – Dr. Theresa Kallstrom, Superintendent
Dr. Kallstromwelcomed the school board and reported on the positive partnership with Dr. Hall.
President Hemming thanked Dr. Kallstrom for hosting their annual meeting in her school.
206.B.AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION
There was none.
207.C.INDIAN EDUCATION PROGRAM - Mrs. Shelley Promo
Mrs. Promointroduced the Indian Education Parent Committee: Jeff Holt, Chairperson; Tim Archer, Vice Chairperson; Traci Swan, Becky Dale, Teacher Member;Angeline Boulley, Sandy Sawyer, Michelle Bouschor, and Leslie Boulette.
Mrs. Promo introduced the Indian Education Program staff:Patti Oshelski, Elementary Student Services Coordinator; Michelle Maas, Middle School Native American Advisor; Allison Campbell, Malcolm High School Native American Advisor; Jennifer Blair, Sault High School Native American Advisor; and David Houghton, Sault High School Native American Literature and Ojibwe Language Teacher.
Mrs. Promo reported on student testing and reviewed the measurements, assessments, and targets used to gauge progress.
Mrs. Promo explained theeligibility and funding of the Title VII Indian Education Program.She announcedit is too early to report how the federal sequestration will affect the program.
Mrs. Promo reported onImpact Aid funding.
Mrs. Promo reported on the academic, behavioral, and truancy programs available forstudents and their funding source.
Mrs. Promo reported on the number of Native American students who were recipients of the Gates Millennium Scholarship and EUP Principals Academic Achievement Award.
208.III.BOARD GOVERNANCE AND BOARD POLICY ISSUES
President Hemming thanked Mrs. Promo, the Indian Education Parent Committee and staff for continuing to develop theIndian Education Program and for the comprehensive report.
Member Scott raised for discussion the need for increased student achievement,particularly in science,and the ways to achieve that goal.
Superintendent Hall reported on the revision of student assessment standards for next year and the time involved with incorporating them.

There being no further business to come before the Board at 7:48p.m., it was moved by Member Scott, supported by MemberHolt, that the meeting be adjourned.
