Annual Club Training Options, and how to register for each

There has been some confusion, and lots of questions, regarding what training options are available for clubs to satisfy the annual training requirements for their participants.

There are three options this season:

  1. Contract with the Badger Region to provide a clinician to facilitate a 2.5 hour classroom session. The fee is $150.
  2. Conduct your own classroom training session using Badger Region/USAV approved course materials. No fee is charged.
  3. Allow club players and coaches to individually view on-line USAV supplied courses. No fee is charged.

Here’s how to implement each of the above options.

Option 1. Contract with the Badger Region for a Clinician

Contact Badger Region Referee Chair, Jim Momsen, at and request a clinician to facilitate a classroom clinic. It would help if you would provide a couple of date options in case a clinician is not available for your primary date. Jim will reply and help coordinate the clinic.

Submit the Junior Club Ref/Scorer Training Report Form on the forms page upon clinic completion.

Option 2. Conduct your own classroom training session

Clubs may facilitate their own officiating clinic using region-approved training materials. All materials are housed on the web page. Ths list of modules to cover are:

  • Jr. Line Judge
  • Jr. Second Referee
  • Libero Rules
  • Net and Centerline Rules
  • Critical Rules & Interpretations
  • Scoring Basics, Non-Deciding set
  • Scoring Basics, Deciding set
  • Libero Control
  • Scoring Sanctions

Submit the Junior Club Ref/Scorer Training Report Form on the forms page upon clinic completion.

Option 3. Online, Self-directed Training for Club Players and Coaches

This option allows everyone the flexibility to take the training at their own pace and to complete the modules over the course of several sittings.

If you select this option, you must submit the Junior Club Ref/Scorer Training Report Form on the forms page upon clinic completion.

Separate on-line training paths for Badger Region Players and Coaches have been set up in USAV Academy.

  • Players:
  • BG17_101
  • BG17_102
  • Coaches:

Both registration for the training, and viewing the modules, is handled through WebPoint.
