Analysis Paper 2

The performance I saw was the Zumba workout dances, I relate to this so much because I do teach it as well attending other instructor’s classes.I saw this performance on Sunday June 26th in the downtown performed at the Festival of Arts. Zumba is a mixture of Aerobic interval training with Latin-style dance moves that keeps the body moving. The instructors teach the dance while they are dancing and exercising at the same time.

Zumba is a fun aerobic exercise that keeps people motivated and having fun while they burn intense amount of calories. As they mentioned, Zumba is successful because it is easy to catch on to and participants enjoy themselves so it keeps them moving. My favorite two dances that were performed during this were remix of “Hips Don’t Lie” by Shakira and “Tumba La Casa” By Thalia.

Hips Don’t Lie performance was very intense,it started out slow stretching the body out getting it ready for the upcoming movements. Slowly they started picking up the speed to the rhyme of the music. They used majority of the space on the stage, they kept their form and their passion for the dancing while going around the stage. They kept that energy in them even though it looked really tiring, they had full energy and passion to what they were doing and shown it around the stage.

The timing for this dance started out slow, but as the rhythm picked up so did the moves and the energy that the performers brought out. It was fast and efficient they kept their moves right on track rather than having it all over. There were times during this dance were it was really fast which was really amazing of how fast they moved and how their body was moving along with the music. I also got out of that is that how the movement of their body was right on the beat, and how they formed their body. With the use of the whole stage, the full passion, and right timing along with the movement it was all around great and energetic.

Going on to energy for this dance, it was beyond energetic, it just made you want to get up and dance along with them from how much energy they brought out towards the crowd. They had full passion for the dance, although it was tiring, they kept the energy up and their form as well staying cheered up and enthusiasm. Overall this dance was great to watch, I haven’t danced or watched this dance being performed, but I am glad I watched it from these people because they presented it very well.

The second performance is Tumba La Casa, this performance had similar energetic and passion that the Hips Don’t Lie had. The space for this performance was fully used with the full passion and love for this dance. The movement right away started out fast, since everyone was prepared and kind of expecting the type of energy that is required for this. There were a lot of moving and walking such as sideways and circular.

They had a lot of leg movements and quick turns that required a lot of fast leg movements. There was a part where they stayed moving their arms fast around in circular motion as well as up and down which was really nice to see that type of energy brought out on stage towards us. Also there was a lot of abdominal working out as well which looked really tiring, but fun at the same time.
The timing for this dance was really quick and efficient. They kept their rhyme, their body movement and as well as staying up with the beat keeping it perfect timing. With all of the energy and passion that they had throughout the performance, it made you just appreciate working out and how fun it is when you do what you like and enjoy it around the ones you feel comfortable with and that is what I felt that is coming from them.

Personally I enjoy and love any type of dance performance, but since it is what I do, I enjoy deeply watching the Zumba working out and performance. Like any dance, they have a story behind them and to me what I believe that story is is that to keep exercising and enjoy any type of Latin dance and as well grow the love of just dancing as well as burning calories. The chorography was very well done, it was perfect, and it matched the energy of the music as well as the energy that the performers brought out from it.

Zumba is a great way expressing your love for dance and for just working out and feeling good as well as having fun in. Zumba dance has so much energy to bring out to the people and enjoyable way of just dancing. There are many type of songs, dances, and moves that can be defined in Zumba, but at the end all of it leads to same thing, and this for us to enjoy it, have fun with it, express our love to dance and of course to lose weight. This type of dance can be enjoyed from young to old and can be learned easily. You just have to keep moving your body and always have fun with it!
