Job Description

Location:25 Marylebone Road, London NW1 5JR

Purpose:Oversee and implement All We Can’s campaigns,public educationand advocacy strategy, in line with the organisation’s overall purpose and strategic plan including identifying appropriate campaigning opportunities

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  1. Co-ordinate All We Can’s advocacy, campaigning and public education strategy
  1. Develop and co-ordinate All We Can’s advocacy, campaigning and public education strategy, drawing input from staff from across the organisation and international partners
  2. Manage the delivery of an annual workplan to deliver the organisation’s objectives in advocacy, campaigning and public education
  3. Represent All We Can in relevant advocacy and campaign networks, meetings and membership bodies
  4. Identify opportunities for collaborative work with other agencies and groups within the Methodist Church
  5. Ensure the organisation is kept up to date regarding current policy issues and initiatives and best practice in advocacy, campaigning and education activities, and that staff and volunteers are briefed, trained and involved as appropriate
  6. Keep informed and take appropriate action regarding charity law relating to campaigning activities
  1. International advocacy
  1. Liaise and consult with All We Can’s overseas partners to ensure advocacy priorities and campaign communications are informed by the experiences of the communities where they work, and that their voices are reflected in All We Can’s campaigns
  2. Periodically visit All We Can’s partners overseas to discuss advocacy issues, support advocacy strategy development by partnersand gather material to support communications and campaigning
  3. Identify and liaise with international Methodist partners with regard to campaigns and advocacy work
  1. Promote campaigns
  1. Promote and facilitate campaigning among All We Can supporters, ensuringa co-ordinated and coherent approach
  2. Develop communications materials about campaigns, including producing targeted printed or online actions, and keeping relevant sections of All We Can’s website up to date
  3. Liaise with the Communications Manager, the World AIMS Manager and members of the Marketing Team to promote relevant campaigning actions and events to supporters and the media
  4. Co-ordinate All We Can’s involvement in campaign events
  5. Evaluate and report on the success of campaign activities
  1. Manage the campaign partnerships and UK grants programme
  1. Manage the UK campaign partnerships grants programme and relationships with campaign partners
  2. Co-ordinate the process of developing campaign partnerships, including identifying potential partners and assessing applications
  3. Work with the Finance and Administration Team to develop and implement appropriate systems for the administration of grants, and ensure compliance
  4. Evaluate and report on the impact of campaign partnerships
  1. Public education
  1. Create opportunities and resources that will inform and educate people in British Methodist churches, and beyond, about international development, global poverty and injustice, and how they can act meaningfully in response
  2. Commission, write or project manage the development of materials to support this, including Bible study and theological material relating to current campaign issues
  3. Work with the Communications Manager, the World AIMS Manager and the Marketing Team to ensure the promotion of public education materials and resources

  1. Ensure familiarity with and adhere to All We Can’s policies and procedures and keep informed of all cross departmental activities

  1. Represent All We Can at events and with groups of supporters and in the media, including making presentations, speaking in services, running workshops and attending conferences
  2. Manage volunteers and task-manage staff working on initiatives for which you are responsible
  3. Manage allocated expenditure budgets effectively
  4. Attend all-staff meetings, Trustee meetings, and other meetings as appropriate
  5. Any other reasonable duty consistent with the responsibilities of the post as requested by your manager or a member of the All We CanSLT.

Terms and Conditions

Term of Appointment:Permanent position.

Hours of Work:The normal hours of work will be 7 hours a day (35 hours per week) with core office hours being 10am-4.30pm and an hour for lunch. Additional flexibility in working hours may be required due to some weekend work and overseas travel. Payment for overtime is not given but employees are entitled to time off in lieu by agreement.

Starting salary:£30 - £35,000 including Inner London Allowance

Holiday Entitlement:25 days per annum, plus Bank Holidays and an extra three days at Christmas and New Year.

Sick Pay:Entitlement in accordance with All We Can’s terms and conditions of employment.

Pension:All We Can operates a defined contribution pension scheme, with a minimum contribution of 6% employer and 3% employee, that all employees are eligible to join.Full details will be provided at the commencement of employment.

Probationary Period:Appointments are made subject to the satisfactory completion of a probationary period, normally six months.

Season Ticket:Season ticket loans are available after the satisfactory completion of the probationary period.

Health and Safety:The post holder will be subject to the All We Can’s Health and Safety policy.
