What is your perception and/or vision of CSU?

My vision for the Creighton Students Union is a transparent government that fully devotes itself to serve the needs of each individual Creighton Student. I want to see further collaboration between students and CSU, as many students believe there is a disconnect between the CSU government and the student body. Encouraging collaboration among students and government begins at the top with the CSU President. This is why I am running. So many students I talk to complain that they have no idea what CSU does or how they could provide input on CSU discussions. The mission of CSU is to serve and represent the students, and I think it is time to adhere more closely to this mission through changes to CSU that encourage students to share their thoughts and ideas with myself and other executives.

What are your goals for CSU and how do they fit within the mission statements of CSU and Creighton University? How would you go about achieving these goals (please address a strength of yours that could help)?

The mission of CSU is to serve and represent the entire Creighton community. Creighton is an extremely diverse community, with nine different colleges, and it is time we bring people from all backgrounds together in this community to help strengthen it. My goal for CSU is a more transparent organization that fosters community participation in all aspects of a student’s life. I want to bring the CSU executives, all nine colleges, and every student enrolled at the university together to further this community and improve public perception of the CSU. My goal for transparency within the executive government of CSU will be achieved by outreach to the student body through activities and events that will hold us accountable for our actions, but also make us more approachable to the average student. To strengthen this community I would first like to bridge the gap between undergraduate and graduate students. There exists too far a divide between the two populations and I will organize events to encourage graduate and undergraduate cooperation and collaboration. My goal as President of CSU is to establish a more transparent executive government that works to serve the average Creighton student.

Explain briefly why you would be an asset to the Creighton Student Union in this position.

Anyone who has worked alongside me can attest to the fact that I am a hard worker who will not stop until the job is done. As President of CSU I will continue to do this, working tirelessly for the students of Creighton. I am driven and will work hard for you because I desire to serve the community of Creighton that has provided me with numerous life changing opportunities over the last three years. I love the community of Creighton whole-heartedly and am driven to serve this community to the best of my ability if I am elected President.

Describe yourself as an individual (what experiences have qualified you to hold the office of President?).

As an individual and leader I strive to be approachable, honest, and fair. As President of CSU I would continue to uphold these qualities with the hope that students would be willing to talk with me, challenge me, and most importantly work with me to make the executive government of CSU more transparent and less distant from the Creighton community. I have held numerous leadership positions since I began working at the age of fourteen and believe that my diverse workplace experience qualify me to objectively understand the needs and desires of individual Creighton students. I am running for CSU President to serve each individual student that makes up the entire diverse body of the Creighton Community.

I am running for CSU President to bring transparency to the government of CSU and to provide a voice to the everyday Creighton student who feels that there is a disconnect between CSU and Creighton students, while actively encouraging cooperation between all nine colleges that make up Creighton University. My vision for the government of CSU is to create a body that is more receptive to the needs of the everyday student so that everyoneaffiliated with Creighton feels as though their voice will be heard.
