The ESR Dublin 2015 event took place at the Grand hotel,Malahide Co. Dublin, Ireland, 4-6 November 2015. Michael Remes (EFPC (UK)) attended the event on behalf of the FP7 AF3 security project.

AF3 had an exhibition stand at the event for all three days which was shared with the FP7 FORCE Security project

This event was designed for high engagement and linked up European security research with the community of First Responders in emergency and crisis management, cyber-security, experts in Big Data, international organisations, academic, standardisation and policy makers.

Under the auspices of the National Standards Authority of Ireland, this Dublin event presented a great opportunity for engagement with experts from different backgrounds and understandings in the area of security research, be it from a standardisation, policy making, crisis and emergency first responder perspective or be it from the scientific and research community perspective.

The main conference on 4th November 2015 staged four challenging themes on: Strengthening Crisis and Emergency Management Response; Future Crisis Management Standardisation; Cyber Security; Big Data. The event included speakers from the European Commission, Alcatel-Lucent, Siemens, Grant Thornton, Telecommunications Software & Systems Group (TSSG)located in the Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT), TNO, Centre for Secure Information Technologies and the University of Stuttgart amongst others.

During the afternoon of 4th November, parallel stream presentation sessions took place in the Theatre room. The 5th and 6th Novemberwere aimed at further strengthening European project cross-fertilisation activities and included theatre presentation sessions and World Café sessions.

The World Café featured an informal networking environment where small groups were given an open forum to discuss problem statements, contribute new ideas, learn from other delegates and plot out collective patterns to address prevalent problems. Michael Remes attended the World Café on “An open-ended, interactive approach to identify the most important system features and functionalities which enable real-time coordinated decision making in crisis and emergency management response”

AF3 leaflets, posters and a PowerPoint presentation were used to disseminate information about the project during the event. These materials were also made available for the event participants to download via an AF3 Dropbox setup by the organisers.
