2008 Arctic Winter Games information

Yukon Soccer Association will be holding open trials for the 2008 Arctic Winter Games

Indoor Soccer teams in the following age categories:

Intermediate Female: born in 1989 or later

Junior Male: born in 1991 or later

Junior Female: born in 1991 or later

Juvenile Male: born in 1993 or later

Juvenile Female: born in 1993 or later

Trials will take place at the Canada Games Centre in Whitehorse on Saturday December 8th & Sunday December 9th. The Saturday Schedule is:

Juvenile Divisions: Sessions will take place at 8:30am to 10:30am;

2:30pm to 4:00pm; and 5:30pm to 7:00pm. Players must attend all

sessions and be on time.

Junior Divisions: Sessions will take place at 10:30am to 12:30pm and

4:00pm – 5:30 pm. Players must attend all sessions and be on time.

Intermediate Female session will take place from 12:30pm to 2:30pm.

All participants will be assessed on their performance on Saturday and some of them will be asked to return on Sunday to continue in the selection process. They will be

advised of the Sunday schedule at that time.

The trials will be finished by 3:00pm on Sunday December 9th.

Participants must be Canadian citizens or landed immigrants and meet the age requirement set out above. Participants must be members in good standing with Yukon Soccer Association (registered and currently playing indoor soccer).

Participants must wear proper soccer equipment including shin-guards and shoes with non-marking soles. Players without shin-guards will not be allowed to participate. Players should bring a nutritious lunch and snacks, as they may be expected to remain at the Canada Games Centre for the full period on both days. Players MUST also wear a WHITE shirt during trials

ALL participants must register no later than 5:00pm on December 5th 2007.

·  Players from Whitehorse must register and pay fees by 5:00pm on

December 5th 2007.

·  Players from outside Whitehorse must register by 5:00pm on

December 5th 2007 but can pay their fees at the start of trials on Saturday.

·  Players must indicate on the registration form which division they wish to try out in. Changes to division selected will not be entertained after December 5th.

Completed registration forms and fees can be dropped of at Sport Yukon. Players outside of Whitehorse can fax forms to Sport Yukon at 667-4237 with the original and

fee being handed in at the trials.

The trial fee is $45 per participant. All participants under the age of 18 are required to have a parental or guardian signature on the forms. The registration form can be found on the Sport Yukon web site at www.sportyukon.com (click on Major Games, then AWG & look under 2008 Team Yukon information to find trial registration form). Forms can also be picked up at Sport Yukon in Whitehorse. Registration fee must be paid in order to participate in the trials. Except for players from outside Whitehorse, registration forms must be accompanied by the participant fee.

Sport Yukon provides a travel subsidy for participants from outside Whitehorse of

0.16 cents per km based on 4 people per vehicle. For further information on this subsidy please contact Sport Yukon directly.

In order to be considered for the teams, players MUST attend trials unless you receive an exemption from Sport Yukon by December 5th 2007. It is the participant's responsibility to seek the exemption directly from Sport Yukon.
