ADULT MENTAL HEALTH UPDATE

Access Team – This team is the Assessment team for all new routine referrals received for adult mental health, aged 18 upwards. This team is based at Parkside, Billingham – appointments are offered at a range of locations across the Borough of Stockton on Tees including home visits. All patients are contacted on the day of the referral received and offered choice of day, time and venue – this can be the next day or within 7 working days.

Crisis Team – This team provides crisis assessment and home intensive treatment to adults aged 18 upwards across the Borough of Stockton. This team operates 24/7. Following recent review of Crisis services additional staff are now working within the team which is to provide additional resource for intensive home treatment and for the establishment of a Tees Night Team based at Roseberry Park Hospital, Middlesbrough.

Affective Disorders – This team is an integrated health and social care team that provides intervention following assessment for patients who have complex, severe or treatment resistant mental health problems, also the management of significant risk. Eligibilty for social care services are for those who meet the FACS criteria which is substantial/critical.

Affective disorders provides intervention to people with bi-polar, personality disorder, severe depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, specialist problems including eating disorders, adult adhd, autism.

This team has a range of professionals which includes social workers, community mental health nurses, occupational therapists, psychological therapists, consultant psychiatrist, support workers and administrators.

Psychosis - .This team is an integrated health and social care team that provides intervention following assessment for patients who have complex, severe or treatment resistant mental health problems, also the management of significant risk. Eligibilty for social care services are for those who meet the FACS criteria which is substantial/critical.

Psychosis team provides intervention to people with schizophrenia and psychotic disorders.

For those patients presenting with first episode psychosis they will be assessed by the Early Intervention Psychosis team which provides services for those aged 14-35.

Enhanced Liaison Team

This service changed in March 2013 to provide a 24/7 service and is based in University Hospital North Tees A&E department and provides assessment to adults aged 18 upwards who present in A&E with mental health problems and for those admitted into the Acute Trust wards at North Tees. (This service is also provided at James Cook and Hartlepool).

Talking Therapies @TEWV

This service is for people aged 16 years and above who present with mild to moderate depression and anxiety disorders. Following assessment a range of therapies are available. This service can be referred to by GPs or other professional and patients can self refer to the service. This service provides a service Monday to Saturday at a range of locations across the Borough of Stockton and covers Hartlepool, Middlesbrough and Redcar. This service is able to refer directly into all TEWV services.

Primary Care Mental Health Team

This team provides assessment and intervention to patients referred by their GP and see patients at the GP practice that the patient is registered with. This includes the Arrival practice for Asylum seekers and Birchwood for patients with drug and alcohol problems.

Adult ADHD

This is a Specialist service that covers Durham, Darlington, Tees & North Yorkshire providing specialist assessment treatment to those with Adult ADHD.

Autism Services

Assessment and intervention are provided to people referred with Adult Autism. Specialist Autism team provides services to those requiring additional assessment and support care co-ordinated by the Affective or Psychosis teams.

Eating Disorder Day Service

Community based day service operates for Tees based in Norton for patients with an Eating Disorder.

Lustrum Vale

Rehab and recovery inpatient service is provided at Lustrum Vale, 163 Durham Road, Stockton. Patients from across Tees access this service aged 18 upwards.

Street Triage Team

This service responds to calls from Cleveland Police where police officers are considering using S136 of the Mental Health Act. The team consists of nursing staff that have access to the Trust electronic record (PARIS) to see if they are known to services and any known associated risks before attending to assess the person in conjunction with the police. This team operates from 12pm to 12am, 7 days per week across Tees. Since the team’s inception in August 2012, there has been a reduction in the number of people detained under S136 of the MHA. Additional funding is sought to increase the hours further to employ support staff to assist in follow up work.

Criminal Justice Team

This team operates 9 to 5, Monday to Friday and provides assessment to people referred from custody and court who are presenting with a mental health problem.
