Activity #2: Color Field Trip

Now is your chance to interact with color! Visit Color In Motion where each color is a star with a unique personality. This fun site takes you through a true color experience, where you get to know each of the colors as actors. Spend some time in each room, investigating the colors. Follow the directions below to guide your journey.

Start by clicking on “English” and then click “start”. You’ll arrive safely in the studio.

Great! You made it! Your task is to visit each room to learn about colors. Let’s open the first door, Room 201 with the star, by clicking on it. Once inside, visit each color’s portfolio and answer the questions below.

1.  What are the complimentary colors (best friends) for each star?

2.  Which color is cheerful? Angry? Enthusiastic? Calm and comforting? Lonely? Balanced?

3.  Oh no! Red is losing his temper! Which two colors should go try to calm him down?

4.  Things are a little boring in the color world. Which colors can be used to add a little excitement to their lives?

Now, click on the menu link at the bottom of the window, below the colors to take you back home.

These colors have had some pretty important movie roles! Click on the middle door, Room 202, to watch each color’s movie, and answer the questions below.

1.  Red: What are some of the important safety tips you can learn from Red?

2.  Orange: Orange is a pretty nice guy to have around. What are two roles that Orange played that make it a fun and helpful color?

3.  Yellow: Why do you think Yellow’s mom is Purple? What meanings for yellow are associated with kids

4.  Green: This character has played lots of opposites. What are two opposite meanings for green?

5.  Blue: This is one helpful character! What were three ways blue helped out in his movie?

6.  Purple: Purple is one fancy actor! What kind of roles did purple play that were fancy?

Now, click on the menu link at the bottom of the window, below the colors to take you back home.

Wow! You’ve learned a lot about color! Now it’s your turn to manage these stars. Open the very last door, the Lab in Room 203. This room is just for you to have fun! All the activities are great, but for this WebQuest, we’re going to use the Kaleidoscope tool.

Click on the link for the third activity, Kaleidoscope.

1.  Click and drag the droppers to add a color to the kaleidoscope. Experiment with all 6 colors. Try lots of different background colors with each dropper. What do you feel when you use complimentary colors? Do you have a favorite color combination? Is your favorite complimentary?

2.  Grab another person in your house to view your creations with you. Try to make a pattern that makes that person excited, calm, and happy.

Congratulations! You are now a color expert!
