ABS COMMITTEE AS OF AGM 2015

ACTIVITIES

Monthly meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month at the Eagleby Community Hall, 4 Cowper Ave Eagleby, next to the swimming pool. Doors open at 7pm.

Discussions, guest speakers, dvd presentations are being held as a regular feature. Table Shows are held at every meeting with upto 40 birds being benched with great prizes awarded to the winners. Winter warmers will be served from Café ABS at meetings May-August.

VISITORS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME.

The Society conducts 4 shows per year,

ABS Nestfeather, Young and Old Bird Show in February,

Queensland Champion Bird Combined showfor Young, Juvenile and Nestfeathers in July,

our very popular Lawn Show in August, and our Carnival Show in October.

The Society also hosts aPrestigious Budgerigar Auction in January each year for all Members of the fancy. We conduct regular Sales at our meeting nights and our Trade Tablefeatures a large range of products for sale to assist you with all of yourbudgerigar stud requirements. Orders can be taken for itemsby phone and our email order system which is sent to members monthly isaimed atproviding this as anextra service to all of our members.

THE NEXT CLUB MEETING IS ON THE 18th FEBRUARY, OUR TABLE SHOW WIL BE JUDGED BYOUR SPEICAL GUEST JUDGE. SO DON’T FORGET TO BRING ALONG YOUR BUDGERIGARS ON THE FIRST MEETING NIGHT IN 2016.

FROM THE EDITORS DESK.

The Editor and Sub Editor are all looking forward to the new challenges and tasks associated with this wonderful ABS Budgie Buzz Bulletin. We also look forward to receiving Letters and questions to the Editors that we can post and answer in all future bulletins.Our Suggestion box started from our in June meeting 2015, please provide us with your ideas so we can all help develop and promote our great budgerigar club.Paul and Kim Williams have already put one idea forward for inclusion into our Budgie Buzz a member’s profile section where we will provide information on one of our members each month to give everybody an insight and provide further details about you, from what you do, interests, what budgies you breed, other hobbies, favorite sporting teams, lucky numbers and so on.

Name tags will also be presented to all members and guests attending our club general meetings so everybody will know who you are. Another suggestion from you we have started.

Our members have been out supporting all the shows, congratulations everybody.

To all members your support of our raffles is very well appreciated. Thank you. Our Januaryraffle ofa Meat Tray from Patton’s Wholesale Meatswas won by Mr.Ian Machina new member on the night. Look at this space for the winner in next year’s issue. 2016is planning on being another great year for our club with plenty happening, so don’t miss a single meeting so you can be kept up to date with all the events planned for you.New members continue to join our great club, make sure you introduce yourself. We already have over 50memberships in the club for 2016, with over 70 members,what a great start to the year, our club is for “everyone” what an achievement,be very proud ABS members.

Rings 655 new uncoded rings and an order for another 50 tonight. On 21st December 2015 $165.50 for rings and included $115 for rings and membership on cheque, $22 for trade Table and $ 115 for Membership and today $35.00 for membership, $26.00 for Trade Table, $93.50 for uncoded rings, $120.00 sponsorship ($90 for Col and $30 for Jim Parrish)

Membership –

Membership form for internet site. Now at 25 at this stage.

Approve all renewed/new members as per constitution. Col moved motion to approve the 25 (to date) renewed members from last year and new members. Seconded Darren.

Col moved another motion for emails to be sent to last year’s members requesting them for information of when they joined and how manytimes had they joined for record updates. All non-email members to be telephoned for this information. Seconded by Darren.

Col moved another motion of increasing the postage from $3.00 to $4.00 in line with the increase in postage and envelopes put up by Australia post. Seconded Darren. Priority post is extra. Passed unanimously.

Trade Table - All forward orders completed, some have arrived to Col, and all will be here by EOW.

Caterers Report:

Discuss auction 17/1/16: helpers. Menu done. Wayne and Darren to meet to pick up meat on Friday 15th Jan. Cheryl, Debbie, Lindsay and Tony to help in kitchen. Wayne to pick up key on Friday at ECC.

Stock required to purchase.

New accounts to open QFFS (Qld Frozen Foods Supply).

Menu toasted sands, Fresh sandwiches, Chicken Caesar salad, and hot chips. Free lunches and drinks to all helpers as discussed with Wayne and Colin. Toasted Sandwiches $ 4.50, sandwiches $ 3.50, chips $2.50, Steak Burgers $ 5.00, cold drinks $ 1.50, tea and coffee free.

Tony to bring one large cooler - Wayne to fill on Saturday pm.

Colin to donate bag of seed for raffle.

Ham that had been given to us had use by date of 1/1/2016. Wayne will make a meat tray of $78 as they are using the ham.

Discuss Annual Show 28/2/16 need a menu for annual show which would include a soup. Darren is still thinking about it. Cheryl has report. Lunches for the show are hamburgers and Caesar salads as per auction. Xmas very little carry over of excess stock compared to 2014 Xmas show. Darren to send Wayne a list of Xmas stock left over.

Show Managers Report

Annual Show Schedule - Do we have best ABS Rung birds; we do have perpetual trophies these? Yes we do have two trophies in our show cabinets and motion moved by Cheryl to reintroduce the ABS Young Rung Birds to have perpetual trophies. Seconde Julie. Passed unanimously.

Missing perpetual trophies have been found. Located in a box at the side of the trophy cabinet. Everyone very pleased.

Judges coming to date for 59th annual Show are Henry George, Scott Erikson, Lynn Miller, and Kevin Callaghan and Cedric D’Costa

Nominations to be Carers and Preparers for SQBBA team in 2016, plus trainees. Show team to help during week leading up to Zone selection show. SQBBA want trainee prepares and senior prepares/carers. Wayne and Lucas Hendry expressed interest from the emails sent out. Tony to send email confirming theses nominations from ABS to SQBBA.

Wayne in discussions with Australia Zoo to have presentation at ABS Inc. 59thAnnual Show. Also try to bring in the Brisbane Bronco NRL team player representatives. This is to bring in the general public and more budgerigar fancy members, increasing crowd numbers at the event.

1. Library to commence ASAP, who will manage this for the club. Col volunteered and was nominated as Librarian with Karen and Julie as assistants. Work day required.
2. Executive function to celebrate a successful 2015. Lack of time to be deferred.
3. ABS Inc. Prestigious Budgerigar Auction 2016. Phone bidders, helpers, projector etc. Menu, podium, layout, runners, front table helpers all to be sourced by Wayne. Need increased floats for Café, and Auction Table. Wayne to meet Tony 9:00am at Bendigo Bank to draw out cash tomorrow.

Did not discuss items below in detail as we run out of time due to booking problems on the night, Tony to sort out, McDonalds were very helpful to our club and apologised sincerely.
