A RESOLUTION Adjourning the Senate in Honor and Loving Memory of Betty Williams

A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Betty Williams.

WHEREAS, Betty Williams was an esteemed treasure and native daughter of the Commonwealth, born in Caldwell County, Kentucky, on December 2, 1929, to the late Alvin Richey and Lucille Lear Pool; and

WHEREAS, Betty Williams was an angelic steward and selfless servant in her community, serving as a shining example of charity and benevolence, and often demonstrating acts of compassion to those she encountered; and

WHEREAS, Betty Williams devoted her life's work to compassionate advocacy and fervent counsel, effectively fighting for the needs and concerns of Princeton citizens as a successful businesswoman, unrelenting city councilwoman, and influential liaison to the leadership in Kentucky state government; and

WHEREAS, Betty Williams lived as an exemplary model of altruism and dedicated leadership, cherished by all as a radiant light and firm pillar in her community, and valued for her commitment to the Butler Foundation and countless other civic and social initiatives; and

WHEREAS, Betty Williams was a faithful voice in the community of faith, prayerfully joining in fellowship with the flock at First Baptist Church of Princeton, and joyously marching in the mission of discipleship; and

WHEREAS, Betty Williams held a sincere love for her family, sharing her life as the loving companion of the late Robert Williams; the adoring mother of Fred Williams and his wife Julie, Shelly Boyd and her husband Carroll, Janelle Fear, and Libby Dillingham and her husband Larry; the beloved grandmother of 8; the proud great-grandmother of 3; and a devoted aunt and loyal confidant; and

WHEREAS, on March 6, 2013, Betty Williams departed her life of compassionate service and entered eternal rest, leaving her family, friends, and an entire community in solemn mourning; and

WHEREAS, Betty Williams merits great applause for her exemplary commitment to care and unwavering love for her community, leaving behind a legacy of sterling leadership, honorable kindness, and civic excellence;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate does hereby express its most profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Betty Williams, and extends its sincerest condolences to her beloved family and friends during their time of loss.

Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory, honor, and appreciation of Betty Williams.

Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Senator Dorsey Ridley for tribute and delivery to the family.
