Game captains will determine either direction or first possession at beginning of game. Cone will move based on team that has possession.

Pass rule

  • After each draw control, one/two passes must be attempted to a player in the offensive end of the field before her team may shoot. Failure to do so will result in a minor foul.
  • If the offense has completed the number of passes, loses the ball but regains possession before the ball leaves the offensive restraining area - the pass count does not need to be restarted.
  • A pass attempt is counted if it crosses midfield (pass from defensive end and caught in offensive end).
  • Pass count does not start again after shot recovered by offense: (rebound, wide shot, or by interception of the goalie’s clearing pass)

Advantage Rule

  • When a team is up by 4/5/6 goals (depending on level), the losing team may either have a free position after a goal at the center or they may elect to still continue to draw.
  • When the score is less than the advantage rule, the draw is taken as usual.

Three Second Good Defense

Player with the ball may not hold the ball for more than 3 seconds when:

  • Closely guarded/marked
  • The defense has both hands on her stick
  • The defense is in position to check were checking not allowed (7/8B and below) (minor foul, change of possession at the spot)
  • Player with the ball takes her stick to the other side of her body or changes direction, stop count
  • Another teammate joins the defender and the 2nd defender is in position to check…do not stop count
  • Umpire – HOLD UP YOUR ARM! Audible and visible count (1-one thousand, 2-one thousand, whistle)

If a team does not have enough players to start at game:

  • Forfeit if less than 11 (9 for grade 3/4) players 10 minutes after posted start time
  • Can have 7 (6 for grade 3/4) in the box - offense or defense
  • Consider it a scrimmage and be willing to give players from one team to another
  • Maximum of 11 (9 for grade 3/4) field players - even if no goalie

Please do a captains meeting to decide Alternate Possession.

Please keep score of games (not 1/2nd grade) and sign score sheet at the end of the game.

No OT - games end in ties. 5 minute half time.
