Top 4 teams for each of the 3 categories (Ladies, Mens, Junior/Mixed) from each district to

compete at the County Final to be held at Country Fest.

Competitors to receive complimentary tickets (plus 2 per team for coaches).

Additional tickets available at discounted prices £5 (adults), £1.50 (children), details tbc.

c) Soap Box Challenge, Sunday 31st July, Greystoke Castle Farm

Teams of 3 – 1 junior and 1 senior teams from each club. £5 per team. Entry from back to

County Office by Wednesday 1st June.

6. Northern Area Field Day, Saturday 18thJune 2016

Venue: Little Town Farm, Chipping Road, Thornley, Preston, Lancashire, PR3 2TB

Team A: 1st at ND Field Day, Team B: 1st at SD Field Day, Team C: 2nd at ND Field Day

Competition winners will receive a letter about the NA Field Day at the ND and SD Field Days.

Please let County Office know asap if you are/ are not unable to go. Team sheets will be

completed after the Field Days. Please note that letters for the TOW winners will be given out

after the County Final on Saturday 4th June.

7. Carcass Judging: English Winter Fair Eliminator/ Practices

Dates: Monday 12th and 28thSeptember and Wednesday 19th October (tbc)

Venue: Cranston's Butchers, Penrith(tbc)

8. Assistance:

Please note that if you require any guidance or assistance with your clubs or with specific issues

or concerns we are here to help. Please contact County Office or your County Chair, Richard

Carruthers or County Vice Chair, Christina Coulthard, who will be only too happy to help you.

9. Field Day Reminders:

As the Field Day competitions are now upon us, here are some important reminders:

1)It is the responsibility of all clubs to ensure that they abide by the Field Day rules, as they are put in place for a reason.

2)If anyone witnesses anything untoward, has any doubts about a competitor or process, please raise these with a judge or steward at the competition where possible. This enables action to be taken there and then and can reduce something being raised as an issue after the event.

3)All competitors MUST produce a valid YFC membership card when signing in to competitions.

If all clubs take account of these points, then a fun, fair and competitive Field Day will be guaranteed!

10. Member Exchange:

The NFYFC Member Exchange Programme will be taking place again this year.

Broughton YFC will be hosting Claire Johnstone from Canada from Monday 27th June – Monday

4th July

If you are interested in acting as a host for Marissa Bartman from Colorado from Monday 3rd –

10th October, please contact County Office.

11. Sheep Shearing Courses:

There are a number of sheep shearing courses available in Cumbria throughout May and

June. Please go to the for more details and get ahead of the game for

next year's Field Day shearing competitions!

12. Friends of the Lake District Walling Competition:

Date: Saturday 7th May 2016

Venue: Mazon Wath, little Asby, Orton, (GR: OL19 688081)

The competition will start at 8.45 am and there will be 4 classes; professional, amateur/open,

novice/juniors, veteran class. There will also be a prize for the Best Young Farmer/ Junior.

5 days before the competition.

13.Cumbria Agricultural Chaplaincy:

Offers support to the farming Community and their familiesthroughdifficult times.If you have any issues in your life that you need confidential help with,the Rev Chris Blackshaw and his team will be happy to help. 2. ND Field Day Dance:

Dance tickets are available by completing the order form (emailed to your club secretary). The name, date of birth and membership card number of each member wanting a ticket for the field day dance must be filled in on the entry form. Please only order tickets for members withinyour own club. We will allocate a ticket number to each member.

The form must be returnedbyMONDAY 2ND MAY 2016– ideally electronically by email or by post to Charles Ground, Corney, Millom, Cumbria LA19 5TP. Tickets canthen be collected from the stock judging evening on Thursday 12th May 2016 at Mitchells AuctionfromEmily Jenkinson andJo Buchanan (Dance Secretaries).Please bring the correctmoney.

Members over 16 only. Under 18s must carry completed parental consent forms with a supervisory person named. To avoid queuing at night, exchange your ticket for a wrist band at the Secretaries Office at the Field Day between 2 - 4 pm. You MUST show your membership card.
