USBC OPEN TOURNAMENT – 4084 16TH STREET ROAD, HUNTINGTON, WV 25701

ENTRANT ELIGIBILITY: Entry in this tournament is open to all USBC members who are members of the Huntington USBC Association. All participants may be required to produce their individual 2017-2018 USBC membership card at the time of check-in. Those bowlers without an USBC membership card must do one of the following: a) provide oral verification by a local association officer at the time of bowling or b) purchase an affiliate membership prior to bowling at a cost of $24.00. USBC members living within the jurisdiction of the association who are not members of the association may enter by paying an affiliated membership fee of $11.00 for local/state fees. Fees will be refunded if written verification of membership is provided within 30 days of the date of participation. This tournament is a USBC certified event.

PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS:All bowlers must report to the tournament office at least 30 minutes before their scheduled shift. Please arrive early if you have to purchase a membership card, make average changes, or make substitutions.

DIVISIONS: Two divisions are available for this tournament. The open division is available for teams, doubles, and singles consisting of all men, any combination of men and women, or all women. The women’s division is available only for teams, doubles, and singles consisting of all women. Teams, doubles, and singles that are eligible to bowl in both divisions may do so by signing up and bowling in different squads. A set of scores is only eligible to be used for one division. The division must be designated on the entry form with corresponding squad times for that division.

BOWLING OPPORTUNITIES: Any four members may enter this tournament. No more than two members who are members of, or have applied for membership in a bowler organization identified as “Professional” as of the date of bowling may compete on the same four-man team, and only one on any doubles team. Not more than two (2) bowlers on the same team may place more than once in the prize list for position standings. A bowler’s first team event score counts for All-Events. A bowler may compete twice in the doubles and singles events. A bowler cannot cash in doubles more than once with the same partner. A bowler can only cash once per singles event. This rule regarding number of times a person can bowl and cash pertains to each division separately. The penalty for an infraction of this rule is disqualification and forfeiture of entry fees and prize money in the event in which it occurs. When a bowler bowls more than once, their first appearance in any event shall be deemed their official bowling opportunity. Only subsequent appearances are subject to any disqualification and forfeiture of entry fees and prize money. All bowlers entering the doubles and singles event must bowl in both events. All bowlers entered in the team, doubles, and singles events may participate in the All-Events by paying the sum of $3.00 per entrant. Any bowler who places first in the All-Events but has not paid the all-events entry fee is eligible to receive only the non-cash championship prize for the All-Events. He/she shall not be paid a handicap cash prize.

SUBSTITUTES: Substitutions can be made at any time prior to scheduled bowling time. If you require a sub, but do not have one, call the bowling center or this office at least two (2) days in advance to make arrangements.

ENTERING AVERAGE – CONDITIONS THAT APPLY: Entrants will use their highest bookaverage based on 21 games for the 2016-17 bowling season. If the bowler has no 2016-17average, we can use current average of 21 games. If the current 21 game average at the time of bowling is 10 pins or more above the entering average (either previous season or October 13th, 2017), the current average must be used (USBC Rule 319a-2). If a current average is used, the league secretary where the average is established must verify the average in writing and the bowler must submit this document to tournament management prior to the scheduled bowling time. All others bowl scratch. Each entrant is responsible for the correctness of his or her average, whether originally submitted by the bowler, the team captain, or others. If the submitted average is higher than required, prize winnings will be based on the submitted average. If the submitted average is lower than required and results in a lower classification or more handicap, the bowler’s score is disqualified. Average corrections can be made up to the end of the first game of a series, or within 48 hours after completion of the series if the tournament manager, prior to the completion of the first game of a series, has given written consent to the bowler authorizing such extension of time to correct the average. The averages of all winners and near winners will be verified before any prize checks are issued. If an average from an USBC Sport Bowling league is used, the bowler must report this information to tournament management before bowling. Such averages will be adjusted in accordance with USBC rules.

AVERAGE RERATING, REPORTING PRIOR PRIZE WINNINGS, AND AVERAGE ADJUSTMENT FOR ENTRY: This tournament enforces USBC Rule 319c, 319d, and 319e. For details of these rules please see the 2017-2018 rule book at BOWL.com/rules.

HANDICAP PERCENTAGE USED: The handicap will be based on 90% of the difference between an entrant’s average and 230.

PRIZES: Prize fees are returned 100% in cash. Cash prizes paid for handicap winners are based on the following entry ratios: at least one out of eight (1:8) in team, at least one out of ten (1:10) in doubles and singles, and at least one out of fifteen (1:15) in all-events. Prize money will be paid in the handicap divisions only.

OTHER: Tournament management for each event will schedule lane assignments. The tournament director will allow teams to be paired together only if requested and the entries are submitted together. Entries shall be mailed with a money order or certified check for the total amount of the entry fee. There is a $25.00 charge for all returned checks in addition to any bank charges. Entries must be postmarked by midnight October 13th, 2017. The tournament director reserves the right to change the schedule, the right to extend the entry deadline, the right to schedule minor events without lane change between minor events and to schedule minor events in any order. All decisions of the tournament management are final unless an appeal is made in accordance with USBC Rule 329.

LANE DRESSING: Lanes will be dressed in accordance with normal house conditions. Lanes will not be redressed between doubles and singles.
