2016-2017 Registration Information

The Niagara Falls Red Raiders Basketball Association is pleased to announce its Basketball Program for the 2016-2017 season. The following is information regarding this year’s program and detailed information about the application process. Please read this information over thoroughly as it includes important dates and times. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Registrar.

Note: all players (including players who intend on playing Select/travel basketball) must register at this time even if their season starts later in the year. (i.e. Midget through Junior Select girls and boys MUST have their registration forms in by September 10, 2016. If you do not sign up by this date we may not have enough players/coaches to support teams at these levels).

Select Atom /Major Atom Boys and Girls / born in 2005 and 2006 / $565.00
Select Bantam/ Major Bantam Boys and Girls / born in 2003 and 2004 / $565.00
Select Midget / Major Midget Boys and Girls / born in 2001 and 2002 / $565.00
Select Juvenile Boys and Girls / born in 2000 / $565.00
Select Junior Boys and Girls / born in 1998 and 1999 / $565.00

PLEASE NOTE: The fee structure for select teams includes home and away uniforms, tournament entrance fees, Basketball Ontario registration fees, OBA tournament fee and gym rental costs.

Select (Travel) Try-outs

Players at all age levels are encouraged to attend try-outs for the Select Teams. If you are interested in trying out for one of the Select Teams, please check the box on the registration form. Select (travel) try-outs for Novice through Major Bantam will begin in late-September. If you have expressed interest in playing on a travel team, your child will be contacted by the coach with the time and location of the try-outs. All registered players who try-out for the Select program and do not make the team, will be guaranteed a place in the house league program. Midget through Junior level Select teams do not begin their seasons until after their high school basketball seasons have finished (Girls late November…Boys late January) and will not be contacted until this time.

Novice Instructional Program

The Novice Instructional Program will be divided into boys and girls divisions. The girl’s program will operate Saturday mornings out of Stamford Secondary School and the boy’s program will operate Saturday mornings out of A.N. Myer Secondary School. The Novice program will start on Saturday, October 15th, 2016 and run on Saturday mornings until the week before March Break. The program does not operate over the Christmas holidays. Please note that you will not receive a reminder call about the start date. The following are the age groups, times and locations (times are tentative and depend on how many players register in a certain age category):

If your child has played a minimum of two years in the novice program and is nine years old, they can register to play in the atom house league program. Please note: if the convener finds house league is not a good fit for a child he/she may be asked to return to the novice program.

Registration By Mail:

Parents are encouraged to register by mail to the address outlined below. To ensure your child has a place in the program we strongly suggest that you register early by mail, on or before

September 10th, 2016to:

Register In Person:

You may also register in person at the MACBAIN COMMUNITY CENTRE on:

●Thursday, September 8th - 6:00pm to 9:00pm

●Saturday, September 10th - 9:00 am to noon

It should be noted that if the program is full at the time of “In Person” registration, your child will be placed on a waiting list.

Payment For Novice and House League Programs:

Payment by cash, cheque or money order will be accepted at the “In Person” registration. Paymentby cheque or money order only must be included with all mailin registrations. Parents registering more than one child must complete separate registration forms for each child. A NSF fee of $15.00 will be charged for all returned cheques.

Payment for Select (Travel) Players:

Players trying out for Select teams (except Midget, Major Midget, Juvenile and Junior) will be required to make an initial payment of $185.00 (payment of $150.00 for novice) at the time of registration. The balance is due after the final selection of the Select Teams. Full payment not received 30 days after the team is selected, will subject your child from being removed from the team.

NOTE: We cannot guarantee any requests for specific coaches or teammates. Exceptions may be considered on an individual basis and must be submitted in writing to the League Convener before Saturday, September 10th.
