2013 Kentucky Director of Pupil Personnel (KDPP) Scholarship Application

Region 14

This is a one-time $500 education scholarship award made to one deserving public school student in one of the public schools represented in Region 14. These schools include: Adair County, Casey County, Clinton County, Cumberland County, McCreary County, Monticello Independent, Pulaski County, Russell County, Science Hill Independent, Somerset Independent, and Wayne County. The scholarship award will be made upon verification of enrollment in a postsecondary school.

The Application Form Must Be completed and turned in to the Counselor’s office by Friday April 26, 2013

Award Guidelines

  1. The student must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 (documented by student transcript/grade report certified by the school counselor) from a public high school from KDPP Region 14. Course rigor will be considered in awarding academic points in the evaluation process.
  2. The student must have at least a 95% attendance rate during his/her high school career (documented by school 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12thgrade attendance reports certified by the counselor).
  3. The student must be a senior graduating from high school in the spring semester of 2013
  4. The student must enroll full-time in a Kentucky postsecondary educational institution in the fall of 2013 (enrollment verified by the institution’s office of admissions).

Application must include the following:

  1. Two letters of support,one letter from a high school staff member (teacher, principal, or counselor) and the second from a non-relative adult acquaintance of the student’s choice, stating why the award should be made to this student.
  2. A typewritten (double-spaced) essay of not more than 300 wordsaddressing why it is important to maintain exemplary attendance in school.

District Selection Process/Committee

The Director of Pupil Personnel of each eligible district will preside over the selection process using the application rubric scoring guide to choose the top district student applications. That application will be forwarded to the Region 14 Selection Committee for consideration(postmarked May 1, 2013).

Region 14 Selection Process/Committee

Once each eligible district forwards the top district student application, the Region 14 selection committee will select the scholarship winner following the rubric scoring guide included in this application. The selection committee will consist of at least three DPP representatives from the schools represented in Region 14.

Award Process

The scholarship award will be made upon verification of enrollment in a postsecondary educational institution for the Fall 2013 Semester. The award may be given to the student or directly to the institution.

NOTE: Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Each eligible School District DPP is to mail the top district student application to the Region 14 representative listed below postmarked on or before May 1, 2013.
