Hilliard is a small, rural community with a population of about 2500 in the city limits. It is primarily an agricultural/logging based economy. Many families have been here for many generations. Hilliard High School is celebrating its centennial in March 2013. The original school building is still in use today.
Hilliard’s athletic tradition is rooted primarily in its basketball history. Still holding several girls’ and boys’ records in District Championships over many classifications. Both boys and girls have made it too the Final Four numerous times, and in 1963, a State Championship for the boys’ program.
Senior, Bria Saunders, #24, has committed to Stetson University. She is has been Nassau County’s MVP for 4 consecutive years. She was District 2A MVP as a freshmen and sophomore. District 1A MVP player as a junior.
