AHOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THEPELION HIGH SCHOOL FFA SOIL IDENTIFICATION AND LAND TREATMENT TEAM, ADVISOR, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR AN OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM FOR WINNING THE 2013 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the members of the Pelion High School FFA Soil Identification and Land Treatment team of Lexington County took top honors at the state competition in Edgefieldon Saturday, November 9, 2013; and

Whereas, the team consists of Advisor Frank Stover and five members: Colt Bedenbaugh, Ron Berry, Bayleah Jackson, Robert Kell, and Brandon Myers; and

Whereas, in order to qualify for the state competition, the team had previously won the regional contest held in Clinton, and its victory at the state meet qualified the team to compete in the International Land Judging Contest held in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, in May 2014; and

Whereas, at the regional competition, Ron Berry received the award for the overall high individual, and Bayleah Jackson was tapped as the thirdhighest individual. At the state contest, Brandon Myers earned the second highest overall individual award, which merited himan engraved silver pocket watch, and Robbie Kell was named the fourthhighest individual; and

Whereas, in a discipline that requires patient study and keen observation, Advisor Frank Stovercapitalized on his own agriculturalwisdom to build a championship team and teach these future farmers lessons that will prove invaluable through life, both professionally and personally; and

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciates the recognition that thesePelion High School team members have brought to their school and their community and look to hear of their continued success in the days ahead. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Pelion High School FFA Soil Identification and Land Treatment team, coaches, and school officials for an outstanding performance and congratulate them for winning the 2013 State Championship title.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Clark Cooper and Advisor Frank Stover.
