Current Theatre Students Scholarship Application Information

for award year 2012-13

Individual scholarship descriptions, eligibility criteria, and submission requirements can be found through the Online Scholarship Directory (on MyUNIverse, under Finances).

ALL scholarships must be applied for through the online UNIversityScholarship Application for Undergraduates (onMyUNIverse, under Finances).

Using the online UNIversityScholarship Application for Undergraduates (USA), scholarships may be applied for on three levels:

  • University (deadline Feb.1)
  • College (for us that’s Humanities Arts and Sciences –deadline Feb. 15. Note – ALL CHFA Scholarships require at least one Letter of Recommendation)
  • Department (Theatre Majors and Minors–deadline Feb. 1. Note – ALL Theatre Scholarships require uploads of additional materials)

In addition to the Online Scholarship Directory, scholarship information can be accessed in the Addendum section of the USA by clicking on the scholarship name/category.Application deadlines vary by scholarship - check individual scholarship information for application deadlines. Some scholarships also require submission of additional materials as noted, which in most cases must be uploaded as a Word document.

Please refer to these instructions as you complete the USA.

The following instructions pertain to the USA and are specific to current Theatre students applying for CHFA and Theatre scholarships. [Note - Students applying for scholarships in other areas may need to make additional selections and/or complete additional materials.] All seven sections of the USA must be completed (or updated, if returning student).

  1. Start tab
  • Please take time to read through the USA Instructions and Information.
  • At bottom of USA Instructions and Information page, select “Humanities Arts and Sciences” college.
  • Click “Save & Continue.”
  1. Personal, Prior Education, UNI, and Resume tabs
  • Enter/update information in each section.
  • Click “Continue” at bottom of each section.

3. Addendum tabs:

University Scholarships (deadline Feb. 1)

  • Select “General University Scholarships” and any others you are interested in applying for. (Note – Scholarship name/category is a hot link to more information about scholarships in this area.)
  • Click “Choose Division(s)”
  • Answer the questions – this will get you considered for the bulk of scholarships in this category. After the questions, scholarships in this category that require specific additional materialswill be listed. To be considered for these specific scholarships you must submit the additional materials required.
  • CRITICAL – in pink box at bottom of section, click “Yes” to submit your information for scholarships in this category.
  • At bottom of page, click “Save & Continue.”

Humanities and Fine Arts

  • Select both“General College of Humanities and Fine ArtsScholarships” and “Theatre”and any other categories in CHFA in which you would like to apply for scholarships.

  • Click “Choose Division(s)”
  • Questions and scholarship information pertaining to each category will appear.

All of these, except the Dean’s Scholarship, are available to undergrads and require one letter of recommendationfrom a faculty member familiar with your work. Submit letter of recommendation to Department Head by Feb. 15.

Note: ALL Theatre Scholarships require uploads of additional materials.

When applying for Theatre Scholarships, note the following:

  • CRIITICAL – in pink box at bottom of page, click “Yes” to submit your information to scholarships in this category.
  • At bottom of page, click “Save & Continue.”
  1. Review and Finish tabs
  • Complete each section, being sure to click “Continue” at bottom of each page.
  • On Finish screen, you MUST place a capital “X” in the box to serve as your signature. The application will not process without a signature.
  • Then click “Submit Application.”
  • If your application submission was successful, you will receive a confirmation notice through email. Please forward this to Tange, Dept. Secretary, at along with your full name and student number.

Once the USA has been started, and even after it has been submitted, revisions/additions can be made at any time. Be aware, though, that any revisions made after a scholarship deadline may not be considered.
